Channeling water from river outside - floodgate bug
« on: August 27, 2006, 09:47:00 am »

Here's what happened to me in the latest version.

1)i dug a channel from the river and into a chamber in the mountain. One floodgate at the end of the channel, regulated by a lever.

2)pull the lever, room is flooded properly.

3)pull the lever again, the room dries properly and the floodgate stops the flow

4)bug!
water doesn't stop at the floodgate now, but one tile earlier. It refuses to flow into the single channel tile that's within the range of the mountain.

To put it simple: After closing a floodgate, the channel reverts to it's old state, but refuses to flow into the mountain.

I'm guessing it's just a left-over from the versions where water from outside was not allowed to get into the mountain?

Cheers and thank you for an immense piece of art this game is.

Yeah, I had the same problem. Tried to fix it by digging additional channels, and managed to flood the entire world. At the moment, outdoor river farms seem to be a bad idea, unless you are willing to set up a new channel-floodgate system each year.

Okay, I've identified a problem with it.  It should be better for the next version, though I'll have to play around with it some more before I can tell.
