Yeah, probably. From what I've seen so far (not terribly far in, but still) some of the stuff in it is hilariously overpowered, especially the unique ships you start out with access to. What does junkload of turrets plus missile rack things get you? Macross bloody missile massacre. From 4.5k away. It's hilarious to be blowing up tier three stations with second tier missiles (the blue ones) just by sitting back a bit and holding down the right mouse button for a while.

Mind you, I could do the same thing in vanilla, but not for much, much longer. The fair answer is to not use the mod ships, but still...

The mod ships are also extremely expensive compared to anything in their tier. The medium one's base cost is something like 1400 rez. For the one ship. Though if you have fixed turret mod obtained you can easily make the rez back with that ships' huge/large turrets with huge mining lasers en masse, and if you have the utility turret mod also you can use all the other slots for tractor beams.

Sounds like overcompensation tough. Not something you want to do, really.

I have come to the point where i want my mothership to be attacked just so i can see the titan beam melting trough enemy ships.

I ran the Volley and two Rangers for a while, before upgrading to Grinder, Volley, Ranger. The Volley had enough firepower to blast pretty much anything I met, and when I got Thruster Engines, it was unchatchable. Unfortunately, it couldn't scratch the shields on most Huge ships, so I slapped the fixed turret mod on the Grinder and ran around with 2 Huge Overload Emitters strapped to the front of my ship.

I've now replaced the Volley with a Star Cruiser, as it's the best of the Huge ships I've managed to find so far.

I love the fixed huge turret mount thing, not sure if a mod or from vanilla. I've got massive firepower on a mule now.

So, I saw a barrage missile rack in one of the stores. (pretty sure its a mod item) 5 (downsized) missiles. In one turret slot. If you have level 10 launchers. That is a metric ton of missiles.

You can get money probably even faster at the bounty hunter stations.   :P   Those things took out all the grind in the game for me.  :)

Yeah, it's a mod item. I've reached the point with just the triple rack my little missile indicators on the sides of my targeting reticle never start to empty. There actually appears to be a limit of some sort on missile firing speed, so you ultimately pump out the same amount over a time period regardless of how many you have (over that limit). It may be limited by turret... I'll have to check that.

Which boils down to having twenty something plus missile boosters on one Jerusalem and still outputting the max amount of missiles per second, just with all of them hitting much, much harder.

I pretty sure you can actually hit that point in vanilla (I vaguely remember doing the same thing, there) just... much, much later.

Anyway, yeah. Turn a couple of huge turrets into those five racks, give a nice spread of missile types among them (2/1/1 missile/torpedo/grav and maybe some SRMS) and covert all the rest of your turrets into five racks full of missile boosters. Destroy everything.

Even with the just the triple missile racks, any amount of srms turns into a giant pile of macross missile massacre instantly. I'd reached the point in my all volley (and one Jerusalem because its my giant ship, dangit) test where I needed to use less launchers just to avoid pissing off any allied ship within half the screen of the target.

Hooleeey sheeeet.

Auto turret mode. Apparently doesn't have the same limitations as holding down right click.

Dropped a t3 base in like 15 seconds. So many missiles. It... it's ridiculous. Deliciously ridiculous.

E: Incidentally, best way to get blueprints? Best way to get blueprints. Blow them stations up, cruise on through the wreckage, reap the technology gleefully.
