EDIT: Quick link to a review I wrote for this game on gamespot. Perhaps I am a bit biased as I played the other game that came out the same day, that cost me about 8 euros MORE than this one, and was really surprised.

Guys, I don't know if you've seen this game, but it is an awesome piece of work. Ever since gratuitous space battles came out I had this little itch for a game where I could customize my own fleet and actually play through in an RPG esque style. The itch has been scratched!

The game was made by just two people, and has a demo out. By all accounts the game is really cheap and TOTALLY worth it. I've spent countless hours saying "oh jesus it's two in the morning, gah I'll free up one more star system, take on one more quest etc, and be off to bed. Bullshit, complete and utter bullshit, as about two hours later I would be saying the same exact thing.

It takes a simple concept, customizable fleet battles, and builds upon it in a deep manner, and while the story may be secondary, I found it to be solid and pretty hilariously written. The sound is also great, and the little quips and pieces of radio chatter have keep me chuckling constantly.

I know some of you will possibly compare it to starfarer or something, but that game is a lot slower and more tactical. This game is more of a lighthearted rpg based on fleet expansion, a really cool concept.

The site has pictures, videos and a demo. Anyways, I'm off to go play it some more.

Hi everyone,

This is Blorfy, one half of the SPAZ development team.  Alex just mentioned his post to me and I thought it would be good to say hi.

I would be happy to answer any questions about SPAZ.

Ahh, looks like this is also a quite active other link.  I will monitor that one too then :)

Any chances that it might be coming to steam?  :)

I love top down space shooters. I'm still waiting to buy Starfarer (as I don't have anymore time to play since I got Terraria and Hazeron for now), but I'm sure I'm going to get this sometime :)

It honestly feels like a lot of their problems came from the fact that their entire team was composed of cats, and the people who were supposed to be herding them were also cats.

@Levi
We are in negotiations with Steam now, and things look good.  No contracts are signed yet though.

I bought it today and have played an hour already(where did the time go?) and it really is a fun game. It plays like a manual control version of Gratuitous Space battles. That is far from a perfect description, but it's close. Great work by the Devs at this point. It plays flawlessly.

Impulse? Doesn't that thing have coupon codes like
Spoiler (click to show/hide)
that give you a discount?

EDIT: What is it with indie games that make me want to BUY BUY BUY *froths*

Er, got the Beta... any idea if once it comes to Steam, if it's purchased on Impulse it will be somehow cross compatible with Steam? I don't know how these social-media-shops-DRM-thingies work together, if at all.

Excellent.  I'll likely pick it up when I see it there as this actually looks fairly interesting.

I for one would like if there was a private option. Look at what happened with Terraria. Steam will just massively upset people, and the other half will go whatever.
