I only ever played the bawe game. as far as i'm concerned the game eds once you get claking and drones. After that all you have to do is stay cloaked while your drones rampage acrtoss the map sooner or later destroying everything.
I always found drones to be underwhelming, I usually end up going for fusion beams and whatever that kinetic assault gun is on turrets...  Between that, I can beam down bases and capital ships quickly, and let turrets deal with smaller junk.

They are a little underwhelming, but the cloaking + drones combo can really mess up whole bunches of enemies if you let them.  Basically the only thing they can't handle is if the enemy ships are packing some decent PD mounts, in which case they tend to just crumble before they can do anything.

But almost anything else?  Smashed from the safety of your cloak.   Also, all your cloak/cannon/laser tech gets applied to the drones as well, so they wind up getting the damage boost from firing while cloaked (if you're using the stealth drone types).


In general though, you're probably going to want turret tech anyways, so why spend more points you don't have in drones?

Star King (I think) is one of my favorites.  Dual huge mounts on front?  All the fusion beam.  The Carrier is also fantastic, the two front mounts for fusion, the turret for Ion Beam + Energy Vampire turret combo, some support drones, and all the missile slots used for beam upgrades.  Alternatively, huge fusion beam turret.

Eh? Missiles. Missiles everywhere. Completely dominates everything until you hit the zombies, and then merely curbstomps. From, y'know, 2.5k+ distance out. More, later on.

Then you put mods in and get even more missiles and it just gets silly.

But even in the base game, you can stack boosters and whatnot to the point you reload faster than you fire. Have turreted missiles and turn on auto-turrets and it gets utterly ridiculous. Everything dies, from significantly out of sight.

Only problem is it gets kinda' boring blowing everything up from the other end of the map...

... and yeah, echo that previous statement -- ships with mining lasers will mine autonomously. Iirc, you can even get huge mount ones to fire on the giant asteroids.

Which is particularly interesting when you find out that if you put the fixed turret mod on the Mule, it gets a huge feathery mining laser spewing out of its...  Um...   Hardpoint.


Also, which types of missiles do you use?  I was doing a missile run last time, only got so far before I found myself kinda in a rut.  I do generally agree with the sentiment though.

I realized what I don't like about SPAZ 2, and I look forward to the first mods that reduce the glow.  It looks like a space rave fight.

Yeah, I mean similar for me.  I don't think it's a good idea, but they're still gonna get my money.

Its 3d on a 2D plane with some limited Z control i think. Unless i missed something.

Trying to play with drones only. They are good on beginning. But in chapter 4 they start to suck big times, so they can be used more as a support than your main way of doing dmg
