I took my previous savegame and built a legendary dining room/meeting hall. Thanks for the suggestion :)

good food and diverse drinks go a long way too, though

the problem is when you get these ultra social haulers that dont do any work and they start to befriend the working class of your fort, meaning some of these haulers have everyone as friend, but those people they are friend with have little to no other friends

Forbidding people to socialize feels "wrong"/"mean", though. ^^;

So does butchering cute little kitty-cats.

Doesn't mean we don't do it.

happiness spirals: never getting anything done because the fort parties too much. then the goblins attack/fortress starves/dehydrates

would be interesting if something like this was...inevitable if your dwarves got too happy, seems very dwarfy to me

You have not been playing this game/read the forums much, have ya? Also, this is a game where the people playing it regularly murder kittens, (Farming mermaids, when it was possible without modding) Tossing naked goblins into a pit with a Giant Cave spider, just to make it spit webs everywhere to harvest for silk, we impale annoying nobles on spikes regularly, and I think its just that insanity that keeps trolls away....even they get scared by it.

First things first.  You're all soulless husks of what might have once been decent human beings, drafted into a sort of moral apartheid from your better natures in the pursuit of things made out of cute animals.  I love it.-Corvidae
