Yeah, that was a pretty lame attempt. DF has a one-man dev team, how is there ever going to be a leak. Plus I'm not sure why any version of the army arc would ever be considered a "beta". Besides, Toady already said in the gamespot interview that the next release was probably still weeks away.

IIRC he mentioned once upon a time (before the 3D release maybe?) that he had a few testers helping out.  Toady may do all the coding and (presumably) most the testing, but that doesn't mean he always does all the testing.
