Alath The Inferno of Sharks- most often takes the form of a male dwarf and is allocated with chaos....the INFERNO of SHARKS... Hell Yeah!!!    I wish I had an ocean so I could craft some !!SHARKS!! as a tribute...

Is it normal for children to be named after the gods of the Civ, I believe I had quite a few Alaths running around....

Exactly. Ethics in DF are very realistic - trivial and pointlessly selectively ex/inclusive.

Stibmer, God of the dwarves of the Flickering Fortification in the Universe of Prophecy is a deity whose patronates are torture and water.

Seems like the Flickering Fortification was not that famous for their bathtubs... (it got extinct 1700 yrs ago after a lot of megabeast attacks.... sad story)

"Can Kutsmob Pimplehate save the world?" was a legendary bone-bound book. The written portion consists of a 30 page essay entitled "Can Kutsmob Pimplehate save the world? authored by Kutsmob Pimplehate. It concerns the giving up on being a fishery worker of the goblin necromancer Kutsmob Pimplehate in Bristleseductions in 29. The writing has its moments of cleverness.

That's so dwarfy it would give even Armok a run for his dorfbucks. As for the names, probably just random, like everything else in the game.

Better get to work on the temple/drowning chamber.

And there used to be a Human entity called the Fellowship of Muffins!

Three muffins for the Elven pussies under open sky
Seven for dwarf kings with their ballscrafts of stone
Nine for idiot humans doomed to die
One for Ironblood, along with several crumpets and a nice cup of tea.
In the frosty north, where the skelks lie.
One Muffin to rule them all.
One muffin to find them.
One muffin to bring them all,
And in the frosts, eat them.
In the frosty north, where the skelks lie.
SOMEONE NEEDS TO SIG THIS!

Interesting Gods my current fort has:

'Aval the Carnality of Buds', a male dwarf associated with rebirth, creation, and pregnancy.
'Zas the Iron of Earth', a male hoary marmot associated with Fire, Volcanoes, and Mountains. (WIN)
'Id Oiledrock the Golden Diamond, a male dwarf associate with minerals. (I like his name)

Amusingly, Zas is a really common one for my dwarves to worship, and we live in a flat swamp.
Escapist much, dwarves?

Atith the Truthful Decency of Cakes.

Sadly, I couldn't find out what she represented. :( Probably lies.

In my current modded game, I'm getting loads of gods dedicated to plague, death, war and revenge, amongst other things.

Can't remember the name, but in my last worldgen, one God was essentially the patron saint of Rivers, Death, and Suicide.
I lost patrolling troops in an ambush when they dodged into the damn river.
Stupid God.

This seems as apt an engraving that could exist..
Engraved on the floor is a image of Ustuth Brandcrest the deity of fortresses, volcanos and mountains depicted as a female dwarf by Rovod Adildeleth. Ustuth Brandcrest is screaming.

Arceth Deadplan, the diety of games, death, and suicide.
Shesam, the diety of love, wealth, and jewels.

A man would see that as a difficult challenge.
An elf would see that and despair.
A dwarf would see that and say, "Bring it on."

* Inod Soldwheels, the Blanket of Prices.  Male dwarf.  Trade, wealth, and fortresses.  (Few worshipers, sadly.)
* Tobul Famecontrolled, the Meteors of Duty.  Male dragonfly.  The wind.
* Mondûl.  Female dwarf.  Fame, rumors, birth, rebirth, death, disease and blight.  Basically a goddess of reincarnation, plagues, and legends.  Most popular goddess in my fort.
* Sined Routedbranch, the Mush of Crazes.  Male dwarf.  Night, nightmares, family, children, pregnancy, creation, crafts and labor.  Basically the god of night creatures & craftsmanship.
