Incidentally, both those are from the same group, The Mirthful Kingdom. Nullung even had an impersonator who rode a wave of popularity into office. The impersonator? An eyeless, rhythmically undulating weasel monster. He started a few wars, tamed a bunch of animals, tried to create the position of Lord more than a few times, and ultimately burned up in dragon fire.

I was looking around at relationships of my first engraver in my current fortress. He worshipped a god called "Togal" who took the form of a male dwarf, and was the god of diseases, death, war and fortresses.
my reaction was that basically, he was the god of fortresses, because every other thing on that list is an essential part of any good fortress.

that dwarf is now known as Togal. He is, thus, worshiped by most of the dwarfs in that fortress.

My mayor, and the entire huge ass family of hers that got her said position, are all worshipers of Nolthag, dwarven goddess of disease. That has to be a pleasant faith to raise your children by.

Why worship a god and hope he protects you from horrible deaths, when you can just prepare yourself for the horrible death whether it happens or not?
