If people oppose quantum stockpiles, they probably oppose atom smashing.  And magma brings its own set of dangers, like imps and crabs, and one time I had a magma vent from the 2nd cavern down to the sea, and had a FB go from the first cavern, through a narrow pit to the second, and from there through the vent into the magma sea, and up through my workshops.  Horrible chain of events that resulted in much hilarious death.

When a drawbridge comes down, anything under it is completely removed, ground into a dust so fine that the atoms are cleansed.  This works on invaders too, for a cheap and easy defense, but not against mega or semi-mega beasts or FB/Titans or other extremely large creatures.  Elephants and whales will, though, so it's more an issue of raw-defined power instead of physical size.

Ah cool. From the wiki I got the impression that drawbridges for some reason retracted in horizontally and not vertically, guess that's incorrect. So is there a time limit to when it will retract? Does the size of the bridge effect this?

edit: sorry for hijacking your thread bro.
