Turn 7 Results

Earth Standard 14:43

As the Rebels fell back in the face of coordinated fire, many in the platoon turned to pursue, while others began to see to the wounded.

“C Company this is Raven 1. Currently enroute to Alpha Bravo 34 with a bird to pick up your wounded. Pop Orange smoke on site and I'll do my best to set her down. Over.”

Taking advantage in the brief reprise, Sgt. Loken ordered his men to pull back to the Evac site, not wanting to see his squad suffer anymore. The rest of the platoon could do without his team for the short term. The medic and grenadier from squad 3 still accompanying them.

Squad 1 spreads out a little to cover the area that Weapons Squad has left. Their wounded soldier is pulled back to make it to the evac site, while the rest begin to move cautiously forward.

Meanwhile on the left flank, Squad 3 rushes forward eager to give chance to the fleeing rebels, as they charge forward (Roll: 6+2[for charging]:8 =fail) One of the soldiers fails to notice a krak grenade hastily set up to deter pursuit. (Roll:10) He absorbs the full blast of the crude trap and dies before hitting the ground. You see 8 dead rebel bodies in front of you in the village. Some of them looked to have died carrying their wounded comrades from the tree line. From the blood trails it looks like there was more casualties than that.

On the right, Squad 2 continues to pour fire into the dense forest as it advances through the brush. Melta operator Ezekiel is first as he charges ahead, melta at the ready, (Roll:8+2=10 fail) He steps on a bear-trap and (Roll: 7) ends up seriously entangled and wounded, grasping at the wound in pain. The others in his squad, exit the treeline at a more cautious pace 2 soldiers move forward to assist, (Roll: 7,10=fail) perhaps distracted by the shouts for help and wanting to get there in a hurry, a crude shrapnel thrower is set off by tripwire showering the two in metal frag. (Roll: 5,9) One manages to escape unharmed, while the other seems to have taken a rather large piece to his throat. He will need immediate treatment and evac.

HQ Squad manages to fire off a few small shots at the PDF force, but they seem to be keeping their heads down as they are constantly barraged, they do not return fire.

Sgt. Lisk makes one final correction and with grim pleasure notes the artillery rounds now find their mark perfectly. landing on the Rebels heads, they can do little but cower as the shelling continues. A small cheer goes up as the shells annihilate the remaining  PDF troopers where they sit. A few pitiful shouts for help is all that remains. You doubt very much that anything could survive that and be in fighting condition ((A great roll!)). “Wendingo here. Will have to cease barrage now as you have air support incoming, over.”

Medical: No wounded deaths
Spoiler (click to show/hide)

(( dragonshardz, your Valkyrie, Raven 1, will arrive next turn, so feel free to give orders. You're basically fast enough to move anywhere on the map in 1 turn, and it will take 1 turn to land(You should also specify which direction you're facing when you end the turn. You'll have a med-tech on board to assist with loading the wounded. You also have the heavy bolter in the nose in case something pops up, as well as door mounted stubbers.))

Character name: Adeon Loken
Squad: Weapons Squad
Formation: Whoever can find cover takes it. Formation doesn't matter too much at this point.
Stance: Combat
Action:
- Clear the landing zone.

Adeon yells, "Come on, clear the landing zone. You don't want a Valkyrie to land on your heads, we've already got enough wounded to care about."

OOC: I knew it! Which is why I was wary of charging across there.

Character name: Carnus Tacitus
Squad 2
Formation: Line, radioman behind
Stance: Everyoneone at combat, hold position/Two Runners with wounded at March
Action: Squad keep up light suppressing fire, escort wounded to Valkyrie evac point/Nearest medic
-------------------------------

Carnus watched as Ezekiel stepped right on a bear trap, and Pvt Seleucus seeing the danger, sprinted in front of Laora protectively and got a shrapnel for his effort.

"I told you to stay in formation, Goddamnit! Paullian, Tranio-each of you take one of the wounded and get them out of there..."

No matter how careful he was...someone always stepped on a Goddamn mine. At least he could hold himself blameless for this one. Maybe.

"Lemartes, come in! Two of my guys stepped on bear traps or something. Incoming wounded, two. Do you have a medic for them, or should they just get to the extraction point?"

@Everyone: I'm pretty sure that's it for the PDF today...there's still a medic with the HQ Squad, correct?

Character name: Carneas
Squad 3
Formation: Loose circle
Stance: Combat
Action: -Stand Ground

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Carneas panted as he raced towards the clearing. Lemartes' request for a head count came as he entered it, bayonet at the ready. "Sgt. Rook here, I have suffered no casualties and am about to engage the enemy in-" He trailed off, knocked off his feet by a blast. When he got up, his hearing a buzz and sight a blur, he barely managed to make out the call for "Man down!" from one of his men. He looked around, and noticed the mangled stump of flesh that was once one of his men. Forcibly clear of his blood lust, the impact of his folly stuck him like a thunder hammer. It was a needless death. ".. Sergeant Rook here." He called on his comm bead. "One casualty. Booby trap. We're close to objective Beta. Will stand ground until further orders."

He looked back at his soldiers, who were barely masking their own feelings over the development. "Loose formation. Any fucker comes close to us, we shoot it to the Eye of Terror and back." They stared at him in response. "Loose formation! NOW!" Carneas prayed inwardly his bark didn't attract any sniper fire.

Character Name: Lemartes
HQ Squad
Formation: Does it frakkin' matter at this point? We're almost completely annihilated!
Stance: :\
Action: Stabilize the platoon sgt. Have the medic assist in moving the rest of the wounded from Squad 2 back to the medivac point. Non-wounded radio operator will assist in moving wounded. He'll leave his radio with me. Once Squad 2 moves past foxtrot I'll attach to their squad.
**************
Lemartes pulled up Wulfric on the comm. "Negative on the shelling. We have an inbound bird and can't risk hitting him before you move in to the village. Get your disabled men back to the medivac point. Walking wounded who can still shoot need to be in their places." Turning to the HQ medic, Morion, he barked out order, "Assist squad 2 wounded in moving to the medivac point." He pointed at the radio operator, Jarken. "Unsling that thing and leave it here. I'll coordinate the rest of the sweep from here. You assist Morion in moving the wounded to the med-evac area." Pointing across the field he saw the weapons squad retreating back to the evac site. Bloody idiots are going to get themselves shot by the CC if they aren't careful... He pulled up Loken on the comm, "Sgt, just what the frak do you think you're doing? Leave clearing of the evac site to the medics and assigned assistants and go get your ass back on the forward line!" Muttering to himself he finally addressed Tacitus. "I have a medic working down here on some of our wounded. Send your men over to foxtrot and we'll move them all down together. I'm going to attach to your squad once you're a bit further along, so make sure your men don't shoot me when I show up."

Since we might be getting some Sentinels next battle, maybe that is what Kymus Lorien should be?
