Can you embark on fortresses, etc?
« on: June 05, 2011, 04:12:05 pm »

Is there any way to embark on a human's fortress? I want to turn one of the abandoned native-platinum ones I find into a decent fort.

If I recall correctly, there is a mod/utility called embark anywhere. Does what it says on the tin.

In Vanilla DF, however, you can't.

You can with "embark anywhere mod", as stated before. Easy to use and practical. Also you can embark on mountains.

and NATIVE PLATINUM HUMAN FORTRESS ?  :o :o :o :o :o This is much better than the kimberlite one I found once.

Nah, it would be brilliant if they made it from platinum bars, instead of the ore.

the dfusion has enbark anywhere to embark on so called towns. think it kills it in ledgends.
one I had a 10Z tall tower in middle of it and smaller towers scattered about. Not much use without furniture to claim but helps when gobins show upout of the blue and your beginning.

I dont think so. I once found a human fortress made out of simple petrified wood.

I almost feel like the civilization's focus should determine the material.

If artistic, blocks or bars, if militaristic, raw stone or wood.

I found the save! It's KC, though, so either someone needs to know how to extract seeds from saves or you will have plenty of !!fun!!!
It does seem to be abandoned and without animals...strange...

Here you go.

It's clearly not abandoned, there are many human soldiers in the courtyard.
