Civilization mode and World Gen mode
« on: June 05, 2011, 06:54:49 am »

These just popped into my head and I don't know if someone has already thought of it.

Civilization mode: Take control of an existing civilization and influence its progression, much like in other 4X games.  Discover, expand, and conquer as much as you can until your civilization's inevitable destruction, upon which you can send outsiders to "rediscover" and attempt to rebuild your civilization to its former glory and start the process again.
Time progresses much faster in Civilization mode than in Dwarf Fortress mode.

World Gen mode: Generate new world gen events as you watch, much like in the history generation phase of creating a new world.  May also be possible to spawn new megabeasts in specified areas, or cause a baby boom/plague/natural disaster in an area.
Time progresses at 1 year per frame by default, but can be adjusted to your liking.

Planned for the long term, check the Old Dev page:http://bay12games.com/dwarves/dev_single.html, it's in there somewhere

Did you know that if you write 3.14 on a piece of paper and hold it in a mirror, it will say pie? And if you divide 42 by 3.14... you get 13.37!

It is incredibly satisfying to kill a man with a butterfly.
