Farmers can't harvest
« on: August 27, 2006, 05:07:00 am »

I say can't instead of won't, because they are actually trying to harvest. They will walk up to the plant they intend on harvesting, spend a split second thinking with the question mark sign, and walk away with "no job". It seems for some reason the plants are unharvestable.

The only thing I can think of that might have caused this is having flooded the farm room once after the farms were built/planted.

I can send the save file if neccessary.

Are the plants still in the building if you do a [t] on the farm plot?  Or did the flood push them out and turn them into items on the ground?  Do regular food hauling jobs grab them?

They are not listed when in the [t] menu, no. the only thing listed are lots of plump helmet spawns. They are also blinking ontop of the farm plot, which I guess would indicate that they are laying on the ground?

Dwarves with only food hauling assigned will end up with "no job", so either they are not food items yet or it is the food hauling that is acting up.

Yeah, they're on the ground.  The rest is just dwarves being annoying with hauling probably.  It's possible there's a problem, but maybe they'll get around to it.
