She is flaunting her sexuality at a funeral by making an issue out of being refused a sacrament she is not allowed due to the tenets of the faith. How did the Priest know she was gay? Psychic?

I'm not avoiding your question. I simply cannot understand what on Earth you are thinking? It is not some sort of mystery that the Catholic church does not condone homosexuality. Period. End of story.

Also: I'll back up what I said by stating that the modern, rational, scientific consensus on homosexuality is that homosexual relationships can be fulfilling and healthy in a manner essentially equivalent to heterosexual relationships. That is all that is necessary. There is scientific basis that homosexuality is not unhealthy, and no scientific basis that it is.

The interesting thing about this statement is that in order for it to be true, all of society has to be treated as sick. Otherwise the attitude of society towards the behavior causes issues for the person who is gay. Since when is psychiatry or psychology about judging society?

I've read the studies. I know what's up. The APA has tried both extremes to make this into a social issue to hammer Christians over the head with. This sort of thing goes all the way back to enlightenment era attitudes toward religion that have been debunked for centuries now, and that found their worst outlet in things like the "Cult of Reason" during the French Revolution.

I am the one in this discussion that has yet to make a personal attack. So take your attitude towards so called bigotry to someone who does not purposefully try to be polite and understanding even when discussing difficult concepts.

She did nothing to me. I'm merely expressing my opinion as to why I believe people like you attack anyone who refuses to knuckle under to inaccurate and provocative versions of stories like this.

There's nothing horrific about someone being refused a Catholic sacrament that they are not qualified to receive by the tenets of the faith.

I'm not sure what you mean. Are you implying that, since a lot of people in society at large have a problem with homosexuality, that means that either homosexuality is sick or "society is sick"?
If so:

• A lot more people are okay with homosexuality than you seem to think, judging by recent polls.
• Society at large can have unhealthy or bigoted ideas. This is not new. See: Racism, nationalism. sexism, et al. It's very common for harmful and bigoted ideas to be common throughout history. This doesn't make it right.

I'm curious why you think the APA has some kind of anti-Christian plot going on, and how Enlightenment ideas about religion have been "debunked for centuries".

I may not be a theist myself, but I come from a Catholic background, so much so that I went to a Catholic school and my uncle is a minister. You would be welcome in any church that doesn't interpret the bible literally and claim the earth is 6,000 years old.
I know some churches might be over the top and delve into hateful discrimination, but most of them are just a collection of friendly people looking to find something.
