Yes your point is correct. It's actually one of the way people justify the possible existence of gay genes (Gays don't reproduce, or reproduce less, but helps their families' kids) or the fact that women continue to survive after the menopause (When they cannot reproduce anymore, but can help their children/grandchildren).

However, the fact is that number 2 is still equal. Even if your teaching makes your friends' daughter incredibly successful, turning her into a multibillionnaire, that doesn't mean she'll have more kids. If anything, she'll make less, as educated, rich people tend to reproduce less (unless they're a republican candidate apparently).

People helping other people had an impact on the gene pool thirty thousands years ago, getting help from your gay friend actually meant you could raise more children. Nowadays you could just have a kid every two years from 16 to 50, all of them will still grow to the age where they can reproduce, if only because the state will take care of them. Having a gay helping you will make your life better, but won't make you have a better fitness.

What the hell Grayson?
Quote
The e-mail–entitled “Iowa: Hand Out The Prozac”–was purporting to “analyze” the results of the Iowa Republican caucuses, by claiming that the Republican voters of Iowa are mentally ill “manic depressives”.
Note that the email has been posted a fair few places, including HufPo and Daily Kos.

For extra lolz, normal depression medications like prozac tend to trigger manic episodes in bipolar people.

I love the article's title. "Disgraceful Stigmatization of the Mentally Ill"

Quote
This is absolutely despicable shaming and stigmatizing of people with real mental illnesses. I am sure that the Republican voters of Iowa are no more or less likely to have genuine mental illnesses than the overall population. The issue with the Republican base in Iowa–and all over the United States–isn’t that they are mentally ill, but rather that they are pigge-ignorant greedy racist misogynist homophobic jeezus freak scumbagges who are dragging this country into the fucken gutter.

Well, yeah, physioprof is like that. Actually pretty progressive and smart, spends 90% of the time online swearing up a storm. Usually about baseball.

But it says something that he is the first person I've seen who has a problem with this. Every single other comment I've seen online has been praising Grayson.

considering any medication targeted to mental health has the side effect of "suicidal thoughts"

This... seems more like a joke in poor taste than an email seriously claiming that all Republican supporters are mentally ill.

Dammit, Lego...

I actually used to own some of the earlier legos targeted to girls, because they had good-sized dolls coming with that I could put in my dollhouse and sew clothing for.  It was actually pretty quality stuff, and the sets were just houses and things.

I also had an entire gigantic trunk of normal Lego pieces.

For reference, the only Barbie I ever got was the veterinarian one, because I liked both animals and doctors.  I was much more into Polly Pocket, which was a lot smaller and cuter (and had way more varied settings than the stereotypical "girly stuff").

I don't get it. Lego did have sets which, while not being specifically targeted at girls, could fulfill that niche without becoming a barbie pastiche (in particular, I have the lego city series in mind, which is more or less neutral, while the castle series and the like maybe are oriented more towards a male audience as action movie toy surrogates). Why this sudden thing?

I want to know what Lego's criteria for having trouble with the female market is. The female friends I had as a child who didn't have their own Legos were more than happy to play with mine. Everyone loves a creative endeavor. What's next, marketing crayons to little girls?

I'm well aware there are probably already crayons targeted toward little girls...

Yeah, Legos have never struck me as "male dominated." I knew plenty of girls with lego toys as a kid.

I imagine Lego knows better than I do about who buys their toys, though. I dunno what I'd do in their position, but dialing up the stereotypes probably wouldn't be it. Pink bricks, maybe. More lego hair and other accessories that are feminine, probably. Lego people with curves and hairstyling obsessions, no.

They must think injustice absurd; above all, they must think it startling. They must retain the violence of a virgin astonishment. When the pessimist looks at any infamy, it is to him, after all, only a repetition of the infamy of existence. But the optimist sees injustice as something discordant and unexpected, and it stings him into action.

They basically don't make any female people, is the thing.  I remember that of all my bricks, I had maybe one woman.
