"i don't want a child" = i put on a rubber i have in my wallet.
no matter what one could say, this is the perfect solution.
the wallet is yours, the rubber is the one and only perfectly 100% safe contraceptive method without any problem (except embarassment in buying it if you have the XXXL extralarge need) (ah the pun) except material, but even then, they are tested, and out of package they are safe to be used. Just put the rubber on first and that's all.
no risks of hiv, syphilis, leper, or other stuff.

which is why there is the law "as it is" in other states i suppose, since logically the male can avoid it, if he doesn't he's the culprit who wanted a child or who should maintain it.

on the other hand the sentimentalistic naive men who thinks the girl is perfectly honest in saying she's on the pill and so on has probably earned what is going to fall on him.
i mean, you can't have sex with people you like without first asking them how they feel about childrens.
and even then, trusting is fine, not trusting is better.
cynical mayhaps but certainly not stupid.

@salmon: i was posting this lines down below just as you posted your post.
psyched.
what "could" be a problem is the girl's psychological profile.
her parents are divorced, and by keeping the baby she'll get lots of attention.
furthermore maybe she hoped to hop on the 16&pregnant cast of mtv, you never know what italians might pull off.
she might want the baby for attention, then throw it inside a garbage can, a bin, or in a dryer, being a minor she get's off with social services OR light prison, removed through good conduct, or reduced to at home prison, since we do have filled to the brim prisons with refuses from specifical other countries.

Two reasons why it's not:

1) Those things CAN break/be defective. Rare but possible.
2) If you've got a crazy person as your partner (see salmongod's post)... well I've only ever heard of this happening once and it's kinda gross, but it's possible. They take the condom out of the trash and artificially inseminate.

Two reasons you can have a kid without wanting one while taking that particular precaution.

When the pessimist looks at any infamy, it is to him, after all, only a repetition of the infamy of existence. But the optimist sees injustice as something discordant and unexpected, and it stings him into action.

I had a chemistry lab partner a long time ago who had four kids, and claimed he'd never had sex without a condom :P

First time I read the link I thought it had a fullstop after "disabled". That'd be a very curious case of "like father, like son".

From the party offering "family values!" (tm)

He also voted NO on legislation that would make strangulation of a family member a felony and another one that would allow a victim of sexual or domestic abuse to break a lease when moving away from his/her abuser.

How is that for "family values"?

It's family values... from an ancient civilization where Patriarchs were given "proper" respect. It was somewhat common too, the idea that the man is the master of the household and responsible for ruling over his family in whatever manner he saw fit.

Re: right of disowning an unwanted child for males. On paper, it would be "fair". In practice, it would lead to even more discrimination for single mothers. So, even though it's "unfair", it's fairer than the alternative.

How so? If it's a contract between parents early in the pregnancy, I'm not seeing how it would be worse than what happens now.

i'm sure many do not know this, but the reason mentally disabled children increased in numbers recently is because through the use of hospitals, they cannot be "born dead" at home.
it's a story my grandmother told me, when there was still the birthing at home in many places, the "levatrice" obstetrician would look at the kid, and if mentally disabled some would suffocate it with a pillow.
then say it simply died of something. it was done because at the time there was no way to take care of a mentally disabled children in the long run and they were seen as hassles.

Dating even back, the spartans did threw them down from the Taigeto.

the only reason things changed was that you couldn't fake accidents or baby deaths in a hospital, and government found a way to make even the most mentally disabled children a future product of taxation and profit.

@concerning girl und baby@
the judge decided by "law 141" that he cannot make the girl abort.
even when the parents accuse the girl of having been plagiarized by the boy.
(which could be the case)

and in italy, contracts DO NOT WORK! welcome to the church state which says it's atheist but isn't.
Pre matrimonial contracts are worthless, as any type of contracts which could, in any way, directly go against the vaticans "holy" laws of "the baby is a life" "it must be protected" "and forth forth forth".

In reality we're talking about child support and nothing else here when discussing the father disowning their potential kids. You won't get a parent doing any (good) parenting if they don't want to, in any system.

My solution would be having the government pay child support instead. There, fair(er) for everyone, except of course for the people who would whine about paying for other people's kids and would shoot down any legislation faster than you can blink.

EDIT:
Shade, I don't believe anyone here is saying that the father should have any control over whether the baby is aborted or not. That would be silly.

that too, if to say, you make a contract to avoid having to pay child support, it doesn't count.
while in someplaces it does. but not in italy.

Would the government pay child support in all situations or just in situations where the father agreed to have no responsibility for the child? Because I'm typically not one to whine about tax burdens, but I feel like a lot of abandoning fathers deserve to pay their child support.
