This isn't about him originating the plan Obama healthcare law for his state. Its about purging all official documents related to his governorship in order to prevent inquiry into his term in office. http://news.yahoo.com/mitt-romney-tried-erase-evidence-governorship-102728516.html
One would think that would be illegal. But then that would only be the 749,418th time I've ever said, "Isn't that illegal?" only to find that no, you can pretty much do whatever the fuck you want to when you're the right person.

Unfortunate isn't it?

I believe the usual difference is "brainwashing" requires forcibly changing how someone sees things by mentally breaking them down, while "teaching" just presents them with information.

If you want to get technical about it, "indoctrination" is what really pisses me off.  There are certain lifestyles and perspectives that should be a matter of choice, and some are not choices that children are prepared to make.  Religion is the major one.  Subscribing to any religious belief is a decision that should be made in adulthood, not enforced in childhood.

I saw that one too.

Don't read the comments, I made that mistake.

Fortunately I only responded with one rant in response to the thousands of bigots.

Isn't that great though? Can't wait for the generation of predominantly bigots to die off.... Gay, not hurting anyone, just shut up already.... I find it hysterical baby boomers call us the "entitled generation" we're going through the great depression with a 45% unemployment rate for those between the age of 19 and 29.... Keep telling us "you'll see." We have, right through you....

Those comments, people unafraid to show their true selves, cause my loss of any faith in humanity more than the criminal justice system.

That kid really seemed coaxed into it by his mom, though. And it sounded rehearsed. And they had a camera with them.

Although Bachman's reaction was still funny.

I don't know, there is something to it. And it isn't a bad thing.

People who feel entitled to something don't just shut the hell up when that something is denied to them. The downtrodden are silent when they don't expect better. When people have been told the world is their oyster and that everyone can be a winner and the future is a bright place with unlimited bandwidth and no late fees, then you cast them into a recession with no jobs and massive debt, personal and public, well, time for some major anger.

Combine that with a resurgence of faith in protest movements (blame Egypt) and that entitlement can be directed into a force for good.

Or...

When people have been told the world is their oyster and that everyone can be a winner and the future is a bright place with unlimited bandwidth and no late fees to survive, then you cast them into a recession with no jobs and massive debt, personal and public, well, time for some major anger.

The hardcore libertarian answer is that you don't have to survive, survival is a privileged that must be earned. And they would be immensely grateful if all the poors realized the drain on society that your starvation will cause and kill yourselves already. I am not kidding. I have literally heard people say this, and not just over the internet.

I'm well aware of that type.  What really gets me about them is that they will still continue to call people spoiled just for wanting to survive... as if some people should care about their own survival and others shouldn't.

Also, how about that Non-Aggression Axiom?     ::)     I suppose the thinking is if people kill themselves, then it saves them the trouble of worrying about whether the logical consequences of their beliefs can be considered aggression...  and I don't mean this as insult against all libertarians.  I know plenty honestly believe in the non-aggression axiom and try very hard to organize their ideals around it.  There are just too many who describe themselves as belonging to this group while flouting its supposed core principle.

Yeah, I have a brother who is all about crazy over the top libertarianism. He calls the ADA the "Americans with no abilities Act." instead of the "Americans with Disabilities Act." This is unfortunately a widespread, completely unproductive movement. Either spartan it up and kill all the disabled people or just accept that they need (and deserve) some help and that said help costs money. When it all comes down to it, our society isn't prepare to actually go the spartan route. Neglecting them isn't ok either. Therefore, just make some reasonable accommodations already.... Have one less beer a week everyone, that'll cover the cost....

I just can't comprehend where the idea that people are absolutely "independent" in today's society comes from. We shop in supermarkets; can't hunt/grow our own food. We flip a switch; can't create/maintain our own power, water, or sewer. Honestly, most people couldn't survive on a deserted island.

People in the US seem to be taught that that they deserve anything they can get for themselves, but without being taught that they belong to and need to help support a larger society that supports (and has supported) them as well. I think I wrote a big wall-of-text about this some pages back, so I'm just repeating myself. :P

Most of our generation/s has had it extremely easy, or at least good, though, even if it's hard now. Let's not forget that. Education, food, internet, technological revolution, rising equality between people, all that stuff. Maybe the 50's-70's people were able to enjoy their young adulthood more, but we definitely scored better on the growing up table. Most old people when they look at us youngsters see only all the things we have that they did not - computers, cellphones, music players, internet, loads and loads of cheap food from every corner of the world, and not the things they had. Like jobs. And a good economy.

Without those things we won't have the other things they see.... Let's not forget some other things we have that they don't: massive debt.

This is the end result of libertarianism. It's happened numerous times too. Really people? NO FEE MODELS. Taxes <--- good.

Famous second to last words: "I don't want to pay TAXES!!!" <--- said with hatred.
Famous last words: "What do you mean you won't put out my burning house???" <-- said with disbelief.

Welcome to the full, exact, logical consequences of the situation.
