This is really why the religious right's argument against same sex marriage falls apart in flames. Let's even assume marriage is "sacred," why does your religion get to determine what that means?
But most hard-right-conservative Christians ignore all but the first. Which is good, I suppose, but they're really dropping the ball on the whole, "THIS IS THE ONLY THING MARRIAGE IS ACCORDING TO THE BIBLE" argument with this.

Where would you even find time for 700 wives and 300 concubines?

Once a year, thrice per day.
Where would you even find time for 700 wives and 300 concubines?

indian "christian sect" guy, has the largest family in the world and entered the guinness.
he's something like 70-80 and has wifes spanning from 86 to the recently acquired 15 years old.
...
sons, grandchildrens, grandchildren childrens.
he does nothing all day long, getting sustained by the entire family, since they have an entire apartment complex for them.

“Well,” he said. “We’re in the Forgotten hunting grounds I take it. Your screams just woke them up early. Congratulations, Lyara.”
“Do something!” she whispered, trying to keep her sight on all of them at once.
Basileus clapped his hands once. The Forgotten took a step forward, attracted by the sound.
“There, I did something. I clapped. I like clapping,” he said. -The Investigator And The Case Of The Missing Brain.

This is like one of those guys you want to meet just for the hell of it.

I wonder if they'll all get together one day and hold an intervention for his addiction to marriage, because at some point, there's no further practical or emotional benefit to marrying another woman. He's just doing it because he can.

I'm not even gonna go into the "the non diet pop would make you fat which would strain your heart," basis for the cardiologist's yacht joke. O, it's there, but meh. Its purpose was less to be factual and more for giggles, though there was some fact thrown in too. At least in theory it was, otherwise why bother with "diet" pop at all?

No worries, I understood. Wouldn't base my arguments on my ass in a serious discussion. Even though it would be a rather firm base ;)

Only thing I misunderstood was that I thought you said that the cardiologist is getting rich from the marketing, while you meant the mindset.

There is no proven link between edulcorants and any sort of cancer, as far as I know.

Are you sure? Because as I said I have no sourced basis for it, but I'm pretty sure I remember reading (in a non-sensational paper) about a link between Sucralose and some form of cancer, since the body thinks it is sugar and stores it, but then it can't break it down for energy.

I've yet to see a non-sensationalist newspaper when it comes to reporting what causes or cures cancer.

In this case wikipedia has a decent set of references.

Serious journalistic papers report on studies and scientific research all the time, palsch.

And I'm not going to argue against you. As said twice, I have nothing to base it on except memory.

Serious papers arn't above a bit of sensation every now and then, especially when cancer is concerned (or radiation. Journalists love radiation.)

No not "all" Americans do 'give thanks to god", and the ones who don't are just as American as you, though its kind of a jerk thing to imply, much less say that there's a difference.... Too many do....
