Thank you for actually explaining what you meant instead of making a one line post which was impossible for me to read the way you wanted me to read it.
I wouldn't say I wanted you to read it in any way other than itself.

That's a good slogan. Somebody should consider spraypainting it across an abandoned church near the mall.

You say you want it read as itself, but... what exactly was that post supposed to be except insulting everyone on this thread (and Vector in particular) by belittling their views?

However, some (I better underline and bold this so people don't think I'm telling them how they think...) of you are raging, in a "happy" circle, and whenever someone brings up a topic that you don't agree with you attack the posts (and sometimes the poster.)
...Uh, what?  You're saying that arguing against viewpoints we disagree with is the problem you're having with this thread...?

Generally I'm a very progressive person.  (" !! Did he just say that yet he still disagrees with parts of what we say!?")
What's this?  Putting words in your opponents mouths in the most literal manner possible?  Yes, I think it is.

You're free to call yourself a progressive if you like.

I believe that some change is good, but other change is not.  I had thought that people here would discuss topics instead of just posting a link, agreeing to the last and moving on to the next.  I was wrong.  I'm apparently an evil racist conservative woman-hating terrorist bigot.  I never knew!  I should be outcast.  :-\
The issue we've always had with you in the past is that you put words in people's mouths and twisted people's viewpoints while comparing them to the Third Reich.  It's just not a good way to argue.

Unless someone here has actually acted upon what they are saying, it is passive aggressive angst.  You sit around going, "This is bad!" and "Yeah!  That's the truth!" but never contemplate actually acting upon it or resolving the situation.  Instead, you sit around bickering about wording.  If you are doing something besides tearing apart posts word by word:  Bravo! I commend you.
This is a forum for discussing things.  I don't see what your problem is with these things being discussed.

Minsky then shut his eyes. “Why do you close your eyes?”, Sussman asked his teacher.
“So that the room will be empty.”
At that moment, Sussman was enlightened.

In Andirs defense, I think he is either corrupted by Evil or a playful troll. But I didn't use any of those other words.

I've not said a thing about Vector, nor have I belittled anyone's views... only that they are being regurgitated and forgotten.

However, some (I better underline and bold this so people don't think I'm telling them how they think...) of you are raging, in a "happy" circle, and whenever someone brings up a topic that you don't agree with you attack the posts (and sometimes the poster.)

No.  The problem I have is people jumping all over me because of a situation that was forgotten.

Generally I'm a very progressive person.  (" !! Did he just say that yet he still disagrees with parts of what we say!?")
What's this?  Putting words in your opponents mouths in the most literal manner possible?  Yes, I think it is.
No.  Stop reading it like that.  Did I put: "!! Leafsnail thinks I'm not progressive??!?!"  No.

Yes, and it was generally agreed upon that we should get past that ... yet, as I stated:
Dropping it would be nice, but I feel (and this whole discussion is evidence of that) it will only be brought back up later when someone wants to discredit my post or sideline the discussion.
We can't seem to do that... people keep bringing those debates back to the front and using it to discredit my stance yet nobody will acknowledge that we've moved on.

They aren't being discussed.  In the previous examples, someone posted a link to something, I asked about it and I got the third degree because I didn't agree in one way or another or I didn't touch a specific topic they wanted to discuss.

@Bauglir: They are all opinions.  That's the kicker.  As far as the words debate: I was told to seek clarity when someone said something didn't make sense or fill a concern to me, yet I was not given the same privilege.  It was proven that whatever I wrote should be taken to personal feelings and railed against.

I'm not trolling, corrupted by evil or any of that.  So go ahead, belittle me some more if it makes you feel good.  I'll be leaving now since I'm an evil troll...and that's what we do.

Stop this bullshit, all. Seriously that wasn't fun the first time, that won't be fun this time either and I don't want Vector to close this thread again.

Andir : we don't act or propose way to resolve those issue? You don't think we talk out of our ass enough?
I mean this is a gaming forum, not a think tank. I'd rather have us pointing issues of interest than giving our (worthless) idea on how to solve them. If you want that, come into the debt thread : we don't know what we're speaking about, but it doesn't stop us from explaining what should be done with absolute conviction (and I wouldn't have it any other way : this is fun).

On the subjest of these stupid cartoon : what make that scumbag think Norwegian are weak anyway? I mean it's a stereotype, and would not be true anyway because generalization on a whole population is rarely if ever relevant, but... it really doesn't fit the Norwegian stereotype at all. Sigh...stupid Americans.

I honestly don't think America has a Norwegian stereotype. For the most part I don't think America cares about Norway.

[Slow clap for Phmcw, though we've disagreed before]

There's a reason I haven't been posting today.... None of this is productive or fun at all. Moreover, Vector has proven she will lock thread. Let's try not to provoke her. I happen to like hanging around here....

I'm deleting that post I wrote. It's irrelevant.

Now, about those cartoons. The Norway one. Are we to conclude that he's lauding social progress and just being a little inept about it, or no? Because that's what I'm going to assume.

I think the closest thing I've heard to one is that Norwegians are generally tall and blond, plus something about vikings long ago. Also a penchant for heavy metal.

No, I think we can safely assume he's saying "Modern Norwegians are a bunch of hippie peaceniks, whose bloodthirsty Viking ancestors would be ashamed of them." Like I said, Asay is a first-class asshat. He's been a staunch gun-happy wingnut in the past, so I'm assuming an alternate interpretation would be "Breivik wouldn't have been able to do this 1000 years ago, because all the Norwegians were armed to the teeth. If only those poor children had been armed with submachine guns..."

Equally insane, but perhaps marginally less insulting to the Norwegian people.

We really only care about the Swedes. Even then, all we've got is fair-skinned wealthy folk. The rest of that whole region is just meh. America gives zero fucks about the Viking-spawn.

Dear posters:

The person who regulates this thread is not a lion, and she does not have a heart made of iron.

The reason for so-called "safe-spaces," where the regulation is that the people who normally rule by majority are no longer in charge, is to provide an area in which the minority can take power and be heard for once.  Yes, they discriminate against the majority.  The majority's opinions will not always be heard.

Threatening women who would speak among themselves with a withdrawal of male support seems somewhat misguided.

I'm sorry that this thread has provided too many instances of speaking about the difficulties of women, and that those who would support the Tea Party don't feel welcome.

I don't know what to say, really.  I've tried my best to mediate between all of you.  But frankly, this is turning into an issue.  It seems that I can't be gone for twelve hours on a week night without everything exploding into projectile shit.  It seems that this thread is enjoying a position as a site of derision.  I, as its creator, am hurt by this and feel that it is uniquely my failing.  If the tone is whiny, that is my fault.

So, because today I bow my head and cave, being unable to do anything else:

How can we improve this thread so that men will feel more comfortable in it, rather than threatened by the three-woman minority and their issues?  How do we evade this title of "angsty?"
