I think we have a pretty serious disconnect here, since I did have a quote and it was not below you.

Unfortunately I cannot have children
Science is on the way, I believe. I read something just yesterday, though the source escapes me, on how a group of scientists had successfully grafted a donor rat uterus to a newly-constructed vagina in a transsexualified (Is that a verb?) lab rat. It had to be kept on immunosuppressants, to prevent rejection, but much to the surprise of the scientists involve, the drugs didn't effect the fetus.

Science, improving medicine since forever.

Oh.

Okay, let me put it this way: the second thing I said was what I wanted to say (but was partially wrong about, anyway), the first thing I shouldn't have said at all because it had nothing to do with what we were really discussing.

In less surgical matters, they've also been able to create viable fetuses out of two eggs or two sperm before.

I think you're misrecalling the "rat with two faters" story. It wasn't created from two sperm cells. It was created from sperm from a male rat and an ips-derived egg cell from another male rat. It relied on two things: first, the ips line they used to generate the egg was unstable, and lost the y chromosome (needless to say this is not a good thing), and second, the fact that due to mouse biology, the eggs produced from said unstable cell line were, in fact viable. It wasn't too meaningful in the big scheme of things, though...

Yeah, I ... can't say I've heard of this transplant thing. Also I wonder if the organ would be fully functional. From a medical stand point you'd also need ovaries transplanted for full functionality, and ideally to produce hormones internally within the body....

If this is real, you'd think there would be all kinds of chatter about it in the trans community. Hum. (Wonders).

And for the "hip young kids" or whatever the crap you're we're calling yourself ourselves these days (quiet you... :P ):

(Warning, by definition, there are medical diagrams of a specific type in this). I am way more reserved than these people, and incredibly shy. I guess, this is for TV though and aimed at the MTV gen crowd [shrugs]. I find it interesting that the FtM is a member of Delta Lamba Phi, an all gay male fraternity. Also I entirely love the MtF's mom....

I don't think they're limited by denominations. Just Christians I've known, who haven't actually -thought- about their theology. They're the kind of person who've either never heard of the Problem of Evil, or just shrug at it. Or think it's an atheist trick. :/

So not people who think of it all seriously, and just completed the metaphor in their head. I don't know of any theology professor who says it, and I wouldn't take anything they say seriously if they did say it.

Yeah, there was a part in that article about the mice I was talking about, in that they had produced offspring. Right now it sounds like they had to use a previously made egg, but ovary transplants are just one step further.

I really worry about the health of a baby made this way though. Of course eventually I doubt it'll be any worry at all.
Although by that point we could probably "vat" grow them... and at that point we shall probably solve world hunger.

by that point "gender issues" would refer to the indecision one feels over which gender to go as to a party

I'm not sure how you made the connection between "growing babies in a vat" and "solving world hunger" but it frightens me.

For, in order that men should resist injustice, something more is necessary than that they should think injustice unpleasant. They must think injustice absurd; above all, they must think it startling. They must retain the violence of a virgin astonishment. When the pessimist looks at any infamy, it is to him, after all, only a repetition of the infamy of existence. But the optimist sees injustice as something discordant and unexpected, and it stings him into action.

Read Changes by Neil Gaiman. I have heard that as it is written by a white cisgendered male it completely misses the point.

So? That would not solve world hunger, that would just give you an expensive procedure to breed animals.

For that matter, there was some inteest in culivating muscle tissue in vitro for human comsumption. It was not cheap and would be testers found it unappetizing, to boot

Obviously it was cheap and unappetizing, it was an early prototype at best. We just have to make the process better.
