Hehe, awww.

That's cool, I have a few female friends who don't wear skirts often because it's a bit of a hassle, and I can see where they're coming from. Pants are easier, at least in theory, until you remember that women have to have these snug fitting things that hug every curve to be fashionable, which is why a.) it takes forever to find a cute pair of jeans, and b.) sweatpants rock when you can get away with wearing them. :)

I dunno how I feel about this. On the one hand posture and stuff is one of the better parts of tradition that held over, but then again I can totally see how it's not that big of a deal most of the time and the world won't end if you don't.... Uniquely, fitting in and being passable as a woman takes a surprising amount of practice doing all those things and if you don't, it can draw unwanted attention to yourself, running the risk of outing yourself. This is the absolute last thing I want, so to blend in, I do it gladly. Also, it does sort of make me feel like one of the girls when I'm with my friends so... I dunno.

To the extent that it "audit's women taking up space" screw it. We have just as much right to be here as anyone else and it's not like there's a major traffic jam or something. I hate it when people in stores or other places stand in the middle of an isle and just .... block everyone's path because they're completely obvious. Those are the people whose space usage needs audited.... :P

Just putting this out there: I think that a lot of problem would be solved if everyone was bisexual. Or at least, we'd have very different problems.

I'd like to be bisexual. But alas, guys are inherently gross to me.

I can see the sentiment behind this, but I honestly doubt it. If you mean that Homophobia would drop, well, look at all the Vehemently Anti-Gay men who end up being gay, just so far in the closet that they not only hate themselves but other gay people by comparison. And if you mean that everyone would want to fuck each other, then no.

Speaking of fun gender/sex silliness, this weekend will be the first time I'm able to make PRIDE in SF despite having lived on and off in the bay for 3 years. So far my few girlfriends and I who are planning on going together will be wearing the most flamboyant shizzle we own. Just because. I have a frilly white dress shirt with baby blue floral print and a bright pink crochet scarf and my only pair of skinny pants. One of the girls plans on going topless with rainbow hair.

"Won't you be weirded out if a guy hits on you?" I get asked.

Flattering to me if anyone hits on me.  :D

I went to Winnipegs Pride parade after party, so I guess that kind of counts.....

I mean, I did see about five lady Gaga/Abba cover bands.

Oh, antibullying programs for middle schoolers, well, that's goo-WRONG. (Says the Illinois Family Institute.)

Flattering to me if anyone hits on me.  :D
On that note, the best way to deal with annoying Homophobes who are the same sex as you is to hit on them mercilessly every other sentence. In my experiance, that makes them panic and fluster, leaving them unable to form recognizable words. And I'm not gay or a skilled actor, so badly faking it is still enough to make them panic.

I mean like in the first place. If everyone was already naturally attracted to both sexes, and that was a fundamentally accepted thing in every society like being straight is for most, being gay or bi or other things wouldn't be "different" or "wrong" because it's already what's there for people and society. There would be no reason for the anti gay sentiment in the first place.

Okay true, but what your essentially saying is "See this problem? we wouldn't have this problem if we didn't have this problem"

Of course the world would be a nicer place if gay people were fully accepted. Saying that isn't very difficult at all.

Yeah, that is exactly what I'm saying, in addition to saying that we'd also probably have different problems to focus on. Like, if gays were always fully accepted to everybody, a lot of things would be very different. I think it's hard to say a fundamental thing should have always been this way because it's hard to tell how that would have affected the world.

Before that happens, you know what we need?

We need an actual dialogue on contraception and sexual issues in regards to our children, because now that we can actually have sex without having children, our children are having sex.

And we don't teach many of them what the fuck they're doing so they just go and fuck it up and that's why we have the problems with juvenile pregnancy and abortions.

Because as we all know now, most people's sex ed comes from lolinternet.

The sad thing is, that here in Winnipeg (Admittedly governed by the Socialist Party) I learnt how to put a Condom on twice.

First when I was fourteen (The presenter was a Teacher in Training, and did not have a proper Penis, so he used a disturbingly think hunk of wood) and the other was this year (And because I was in the class with friends, we spent the period blowing Condom Balloons and doing naughty thing towards each other with the dental dams we got)

Basically what I'm saying here is that everyplace should be governed by the NDP.

So glad I'm not the only person who actually wants to be bi.  And I do think that it'd be better if everybody was naturally bi, or at least inclined to be.

I had to figure out how to put on a condom on my own, so I'm not sure I did it right every time.  Kinda wish that education on it was more common, but it would also be really, really embarrassing.  Mostly, I'm just glad I dated a smart girl who got on birth control way before we did anything.  One of her friends wasn't on birth control, and wouldn't make her boyfriend use a condom, so I got to hear lots of "so-and-so is scared she might be pregnant" though nothing ever came of it.  Honestly, you'd think after all the stressful scares, "it doesn't feel as good" would stop being a viable excuse not to use a condom.  And she wouldn't get on birth control because she was terrified of admitting to her parents that she was having sex.

Kinsey scale guys. Most people are not exclusively straight or gay, but rather shades in between... the more you know :D

This would stop being such a problem if people in general would get over the collective denial that teenagers aren't going to have sex with each other, and that even if they do they can be stopped. If I'm remembering the survey statistics correctly, 60% of people who are 18 will say they've had sex, and 80 who are 21 will say they've had sex. That would be the national average in the US, anyway. Now, some of them are lying in both directions, that's a certainty as well, but I imagine the results are mostly honest. What changes is whether or not a state has a high abortion, teenage pregnancy, and STD infection rate. The ones that preach abstinence only have high figures in all of those raitings across the board, while the ones that teach actual sex education have low figures in all of the same.

There are also horror stories you sometimes hear about small towns, things like teenagers coming to the conclusion that drinking Mountain Dew is a form of fail-safe birth control. I mean, how the hell would you even think that? I can't even make up a situation where that would be the end result.

Kinsey scale guys. Most people are not exclusively straight or gay, but rather shades in between... the more you know :D
The problem with the Kinsey Scale is that there's no way to objectively place people on it. You have to mark your own position, and people are fallible in the extreme. For example, the megachurch preachers who were caught having gay sex would probably mark themselves as exclusively heterosexual, when we all know that isn't true at all. In less extreme circumstances, more normal closeted people would probably give inaccurate results as well.

Who cares how people judge themselves on the scale? Stupid human meatbags are like spaghetti, straight until you get them wet and heated up. :P

But seriously, I'm sexually straight, but in certain ways I have what I recognise as androgynous qualities. I don't even care to identify it.

Man, just reading that embarasses me.  Also, I messed up at least two steps repeatedly, ah well.  I still think that teaching it should be more common, or at least not as taboo.  I think the general idea that sex is somehow wrong unless your married is a major problem that's holding people back.

I knew about the Kinsey scale, but had forgotten the name.  Actually, I've already forgotten a lot about it.  Like what the different levels are.  I can kind of remember where I personally fall, but this thread is already making me want to talk about myself to much, and anecdotes are not science, even if I don't know enough about most of these topics to use more than personal experience.  I do wish more people knew about it though, since I'm so tired of the idea of exclusive sexuality.

I lived in a small town... and one of my friends was told by a doctor that he would be sterile by the time he was 21 if he kept drinking mountain dew at the rate he was going at.

Alright, anyone who has heard anything about Mountain Dew and birth control/sterility, speak up. I need to know how widespread this thing is now.
