It's not so much that anyone's saying you're a dumbass.  Rather, that the rest of the world isn't as blindly retarded as you seem to think they are.  You may not be dumb, but you are not part of some tiny besieged intellectual elite, gifted with insight into the nature of the nation's and world's problems.  Most people are more or less exactly as aware of the world around them as you are - if anything, you're making a bigger deal of the popularity of vapid things than their own fans do.

Thanks, I'm blind when it comes to my own hypocrisy and so I rarely speak out at all, and it never gets better.

Edit; briefly looking back on my post and previous ones there is really a lack of clarification on who the general populace or "sheeple" is.

Or even if there is statistics on "who knows what" or "who has heard of" when it comes to news reports, politics, ...

I searched for "how many people are interested in politics" and at best I got "how many teenagers", but no real statistics or surveys that were carried out.
I also searched for definitions of the general population and such, no help at all, so it's actually hard to really tell if the 'sheeple' part of the population exists other than anecdotal experience.

But then I'm not sure whether this invalidates just my viewpoint, the opposing view or both.

1. Do not use the word pleb. You may only use that world if you're old-world old-money with a sound education that includes ancient Greek and Latin. Yes, that means that I can use the word pleb, but etiquette dictates that I only say it to others of standing, when there's no plebeians around to hear it.
2. Calling ideas that do not agree with yours ignorant is not constructive.
3. Your argument was made and unmade many times over, on the entire internet. It is redundant and repetitive. Hence the comic.
4. Do not take cript too serious.

I quoted it as reference to someone using it. For instance, sheeple was used after my initial post by another insinuating I was using it, but in reality they were the ones using the term and posting an ad hominem webcomic with the word.

6.  You can post articles that are on-topic.  I will probably ask you to remove off-topic articles, which include obvious things and not-so-obvious things.  I do not want debates here about whether gay people are repressing straight people or something; if you want to make those arguments, you will be asked to take it out-of-thread.

7.  I suggest checking out the progressivist bingo card for whatever you want to argue, if you find yourself with an "obvious" counterargument for why the status quo makes perrrrfect sense.  If your argument is on there, you can find about a billion rebuttals elsewhere.  This is the internet.


And, feel free to discuss and challenge the rules.  Not constantly, because that's derailment, but a little talking is fine, and if they end up being too stringent or too weak, you can rest assured that I'll change them.  I'm trying to show a strong face for the OP, but, uh... yeah.  This is just plain old normal Vector.

On 1. I suppose I could have invested perhaps even hours of time into a single thread reply but merely invested 10 Minutes as I was assuming from the thread title is was going to be mere simple, casual debate (with rage), this is a review of all my posts on here.

I feel I could have posted more than 1 Reply or condensed my second one into that, but it pretty much conveyed my thoughts.

I'm not sure, I wasn't implying that "the people of the world", "sheeple" "general populace" and such were sub-human, but questioning just how many of them actually took notice of things, a post Vector made linking to lesbians going to a hetero school was a very good example of how people are not quite as observant as they should be, and rather than asking questions or looking at political news reports or other intrigue, a very vast amount of people will be tuning into American Idol, America's best, Knives & Guns sales or some other leisure time brain wank material on TV.

And there are "many" people who truly believe in the opinions of ggamer (uugh, or should I say share very similar opinions) which at the end of the day just adds up in my head as "wow, just how many people are this stupid?" And I don't see any numbers, any articles or such that discusses this from my searches as I stated in a previous post.

What I imagine you guys (only if you aren't trolling me as I really suspected as soon as cript made his very first post towards me) thought about my post and read was "I AM SUPERIOR IN INTELLECT TO YOU INFERIOR SWINE!" this wasn't my intention.


If I'm honest I read the thread and was enthralled by it's posters and wondered what groups they supported (posted this) then after that I thought I was posting about how educating people was important so that everyone could at least share decent minded opinions or find greedy corporation owners within congress and root them out, since no-one here to my knowledge was actually doing that (my idea of taking action is not sitting down on an internet board and just complaining, or at least this doesn't appear to have had any other impact on the situation other than making people feel better by validating that other people do feel appalled by an article)

And the reason why was "because I'm not elected official material", which saddened me, because great things were potentially being wasted because of low confidence.

City councilman in Nevada votes to approve a casino development, while his campaign manager and good buddy is getting $10K a month from the developer. The Nevada ethics commission censured him for conflict of interest. Councilman sued, arguing that casting his vote was a First Amendment right and that any law that prevented him from voting (not as a citizen but as an elected official), for whatever reason, was unconstitutional. It went to the Nevada Supreme Court, and he actually won. *facepalm*

So it went on to the US Supreme Court, where it was bitch-slapped into oblivion, 9-0. Scalia wrote a scathing court opinion and I imagine the Court collectively wondered what the hell was in the drinking water in Nevada. If this had been allowed to stand, it would have been a precedent for gutting conflict-of-interest laws nationwide. Score one for sanity.

This is entirely Scalia's fault. He is the one who gutted campaign finance reform and this is an entirely foreseeable application of his principal of "campaign money = free speech." Dude is so short sighted he can't quite see the end of that chin of his, which he sticks up at the rest of us in order to look down his nose at us as a rule. The Nevada Supreme Court isn't stupid. They were merely applying Scalia's "logic." Maybe the moron will think further than blindly screaming "It's what the founders would've wanted; its not prohibited in the text of the constitution itself!" next time.

I've had the displeasure of hearing him speak live at a law school presentation. He is not as arrogant as he seems; he is even moreso. Apparently, he understands U.S. History and no one else does.
