300 workers at a xbox plant threaten a mass suicide over inhumane working conditions in China.
Shit just got real. That's a powerful statement, there.
Maybe they'll have to eventually treat people like people at some point? Here's hoping. Ive done what little I can to promote upwards mobility with workers starting their own businesses. Ideally, I'd like to see everyone get a decent wage that they can actually live on including the Chinese/third world. It's just incredibly unfair and there's no reason for it. How many people's misery is required to make all the crap we don't really need or really even want when you think about it. Working jobs we hate to pay mortgages/rents we can't afford, to house stuff we don't need to impress people who don't fucking care....
Truean, that girl scout story, which I've seen elsewhere, actually makes me happy. Sure, there's one bigoted girl out there, but the organization itself embraces these trans girls. It's nice to have them around, in sharp contrast to the bastards at the BSA.
Thank you and good point. It really would've made my life so much easier if I could've done this. I just.... If a radical theocracy like Iran can manage it in spite of all their other crazy stuff.... I'm sorta floored at the people protesting this as "almost dangerous." However, yes, I'm incredibly glad that the organization itself is being nice about it.

In other news WTF is this SCOTUS?
http://news.yahoo.com/court-judges-cannot-involved-church-dispute-152559467.htmlFull disclosure, due to personal mistreatment, I'm not happy with the pastors and ministers I've met. Even so I'm actually feeling somewhat sorry for them. The ADA doesn't apply to churches and religious employees? Really? How'd Scalia miss his coveted chance to bang home holding the line on keeping with established precedent here? I'm at least glad that a "purely secular" employee wouldnt be screwed under this new exception, this is just... what? So they've just established a new foggy standard for no real reason other than and I quote, "Writing the court's opinion, Chief Justice John Roberts said allowing anti-discrimination lawsuits against religious organizations could end up forcing churches to take religious leaders they no longer want."
So if the minister gets sick or disabled they are screwed? Same with sexual harassment suits.... Better yet, how about race discrimination...? So let's say a black minister would like to apply for a position in a church and they just flat out say, na, you're black. Still blanket ban on employment discrimination suits? I dunno how that would work out and the problem is, they didn't describe how board the exception is or if it applies to all discrimination laws or just some.
I mean even if you say something like, well, they don't allow female ministers traditionally, or this particular church is racist (happens), the ADA? Really? So I don't see a church I'm aware of that traditionally doesn't allow ministers who get hurt or sick.... I mean don't quote me on that, I'm sure that since I said it there's got to be one out there, but ....
Hang onto your health father so and so, cause if you lose it, then get lost.... <-- Really?
You know despite my generally disliking ministers, I really do feel kinda bad of them on this one, cause it just seems arbitrary to me. Just because I don't like someone or a class of someones doesn't mean I think the law should be stacked against them
