Shoulder pads already mostly cover that area by default.  Women get involved in other things like martial arts, where that doesn't appear to be too much of a disadvantage.

Pain tolerance varies from individual to individual.  A woman can surely make up her own mind about whether she's able to play the game rather than being forced out because someone's decided that breasts make it impossible for women to play any contact sports.  This applies whether or not you are correct in thinking that women on average are more sensitive to pain in that area.

And men can get hurt by things that wouldn't affect women nearly as much.

There's a difference in pressure points, this is true. And the differences in anatomy could make things like wrestling... cumbersome. Are those big enough issues to resort to segregation, though? I don't think so.

But the optimist sees injustice as something discordant and unexpected, and it stings him into action.

I didn't know there were mixed leagues for those sports? Only sport I know of that is mixed gender all the way is Korfball

Edit: Seems like we've got ourself a misunderstanding here. Are we talking about making mixed-gender sporting optional or compulsory? Because my gripe was with the latter, making mixed-gender competitions compulsory could act as a barrier for entry into the sport.

Guys, getting hit in the tits really doesn't hurt that much.  I mean, yeah, it sucks, and it can knock the wind out of you for a couple seconds, but it isn't that bad.

Also, I found this interesting.

The article's fine, but I haven't read through the comments yet.  Could be interesting, could be difficult.

Silly vector, Tits are what girls have in the place of balls, therefore obviously they hurt just as much when hit.

I don't get what the fuss about getting kicked in the balls is. I mean, yeah, it hurts, but it's nothing to pass out for. Heck, if you're going to whine just because someone hit you and it hurt, you probably shouldn't be wrestling.

Getting kicked in the balls isn't really something a wrestler needs to worry about... you're not supposed to be hitting each other.  High school wrestling is not anything like pro wrestling.

Yeah, but my point is that pain should be pretty irrelevant to begin with, so girls experiencing pain while wrestling are probably okay with that. If they want to do it, they'll have to deal with it.

Perhaps my views on pain are somewhat skewed.

Ok :P

Yeah, I never saw pain as an issue.  It's kind of odd that it was brought up.

Damnit, I miss wrestling.

If I can get people to come with me I'm going to go to my cities dual Occupy/SlutWalk rallies.

Occupy was just like "Okay, people at the SlutWalk are going to be Liberal Canadian so obviously we can expect a support base there, and planning rallies is hard work. DOUBLE RALLIES ALL THE WAY CROSS THE PRAIRIE SKY"
