There are no words, there really aren't. Action will carry the day and I swear with me as my witness that I will act against this and things like it in any way, shape or form provided it's legal or not too illegal.

Horrible stuff.  I think it's easy to forget how easily teens can be manipulated to believe lies or internalize behavior.

I think if I was exposed to that treatment, especially if I was already in a bad state of mind, my will would snap like a twig. Teens being susceptible to this kind of brain washing is an inherit property of humans being susceptible to this kind of brain washing. Although for somebody of that age, I would imagine it would be even worse.

It does raise the question of what can we do? How do you handle something like this?

Bring it up with politicians (perhaps not in Utah, but opposition parties/up-and-coming politicians can run amok with these kind of things), write continuosly to the politicians already in charge, excite the media against them, try to make people realise this is wrong and should be stopped, and so on. Try to organise the victims, make their voices heard, create a movement, apply pressure.

I'd suggest starting with counselling the victims.  Not as much fun as a revolution but it's important.

Would an Australian have any sway in a country that he can not vote in?

Not likely. But there are other things you can do, as mentioned, as well as giving money to potential organisations that might be fighting against this stuff.

Whatever happens to the people who do this, I hope it is two things: Massively public, and far more ethical than the things they did.

Though I wouldn't mind one bit if they were isolated in a large, dimly lit maze, with food added at random points periodically, and the occasional useful object, and with cameras placed literally everywhere, connected to the internet on a public web site, and the best moments made into a TV show(Vote for this week's escapee! They get to move on to counseling, jail, and eventually, if they are deemed worthy, re-introduction to society! the rest are left in until next week!); it is far more important to unite the world against such people, to bring fair justice and a complete stop to those who believe that they have the right to 'modify' those who don't conform to their belief of a 'proper' human just because they are The Parents (displeased at how their child turned out, and disappointed that there is no customer service counter to accept the return), The Government (that thinks that 1984 is a great role model of what they should become), The Religion (that approves of the slaughter of non-believers), or The Corporation (for whom it is just a very good source of profit).

Yeah, it might not be much, but you gotta do something, right?

That's true, and all causes needs funds, not to mention that everything has to start somewhere. Amnesty International began as groups of common people writing letters to dictators, you know. Not exactly what you expect from seeing them now.

I haven't read everything but I assume these people are now going to court or is this actually legal?
EDIT: It seems like that's not the case, although some schools have been shut down. People who do this, including the parents, may go to a become-a-gay-camp for putting those kids through this, though I don't think the victims would really benefit from that.

It's pracically legal, I think. At the very least, it's legal in the sense that nobody in power cares that it is happening, and the owners are rich enough to be hard to beat in a lawsuit, and rich enough to influence/buy politicians. I can't say if the populace would support it, though. I hope not.

No offense but the US seems to be kinda.. homophobic. There is no way something like this could ever happen here if the government / opposition knows about it. .. Even the anti Islam party has gay-right as a high priority thing.
Is this 'behavior modification' 'only' for gay people or also for other 'bad' children?

Apparently, rape victims are there too.  Since the article talks about it.
Yes, they blamed rape victims for getting raped, if I remember correctly.

If you describe the US a only "seeming" to be homophobic I'm guessing you probably don't live here.
