You'd be surprised how much people mind their own business, no one probably wanted any part of whatever was happening. Though the mind wonders about what happened during the security screening.

That's what I'm saying.  It's an airport, they employ an army of people whose whole job is to stop suspicious looking people, and they don't really give a shit about laws and permits.  If you're a security screener, and you see two very angry looking adult men dragging a bawling teenage girl by a dogleash, your job is to keep them from getting on a plane, at least until you get a terminal police officer there to verify that they do in fact have signed legal permission to bring a slave onboard.  And I bet they're not going to get that far, since the typical approach is "it's illegal and a threat at least until the next time it happens".
Remember they belong to a business, businesses could find ways.

*sigh*

It's an airport.  You let them know ahead of time that you're transporting some cargo, just as you would with a prisoner, and they streamline your trip.  Probably do a private screening.  But the probability that this girl is walking through the airport terminal is kind of low.

Oh, and by the way, they usually do it by bus.

That is the most disgusting horrifying evil thing I have ever read. I don't even know what to say about it. Trying to go and change someone like that against they're will is one of the most evil acts there is. It is worse than murder, it is worse than rape, it only comes short of genocide because of the scale. The people who think they have a right to go and try to reprogram other human beings like that need to die. They need to be removed from this world.

Take note, I am not posting because I think it is wrong to try and reprogram LGBTQ people - Although I do think that, it is not why I am posting. I am posting because I think it is wrong to reprogram ANYONE, for ANY REASON. I think it is one of the most horrifying things that can be done.

This story is making me shake with anger, and I am only halfway through.

As someone who totally supports people's rights to whatever they want to do, homosexuality fully included (in my opinion there is absolutely nothing wrong with it, and anyone who thinks otherwise is sadly close-minded, but that's a different discussion), this is one of the single most disgusting and infuriating things I've read in a long time.

The way they're treating teens is truly horrifying. They are being treated like property rather than full human beings. Being lead around on a leash is only the start. Simply look at the website, they have a WARRANTY on your CHILD.

"If you aren't happy with your kid's behaviour when we're done with them, simply return them and we'll be sure to change them into something that fits into your incredibly narrow and flawed world view! With more beatings and psychological abuse. Your next brainwashed teen will be half price!"

This kind of extremist religious right-wing brutality hidden behind such blatantly false morals is pretty much the exact reason why where I live there's such a twisted and hostile view of the highly Republican parts of America.

I'm not prone to anger but right now I just want to grab a chainsaw, cross over to the U.S. and find the people running this hole. They deserve absolutely whatever comes to them, and I sincerely hope something does come to them.

Something bad.

Yeah, this is absolutely horrific.

The part of my brain that attempts to figure out why people do what they do is tripping over itself right now to come up with an explanation for this.

A favourite phrase of mine applies here:

"There's a reason America has capital punishment"

I mean, some stuff is terrible, but this is just repulsive. It's worse than Jesus Camp.

Christian anti-gay camps are very rarely, if ever, run by Muslims.

Therefore, no problem at the airport.

Okay, so, today this girl I know-Lauren, just took a sudden dis-interest in talking to me. Is she just on her period or something?

I understand not wanting your girl to become homosexual

Funny.  I don't.

If your desire for just the chance to get grandchildren is greater than your desire for your actual, alive, real child's happiness, then you have something seriously wrong with you.

Not wanting your child to be gay != forcing your child to not be gay

Your children will do a lot of stuff that you disagree with, and while for most of it it'd be wrong to try and stop them it doesn't mean that you have to like it.

This goes for dealing with people other than your children, too. Just because certain forumers have every right to interrupt random threads with preaching of the one and only correct world-view (theirs), it doesn't mean that I have to approve of it.

I agree that this is often annoying, so I'm going to say that you shouldn't continue the derail and should instead argue in the other thread that she started specifically to avoid continuing this in a thread where it isn't on-topic. I think your jab there is fairly undermined by her having already noticed your problem and taking action toward rectifying it.

In the days when Sussman was a novice, Minsky once came to him as he sat hacking at the PDP-6.
“What are you doing?”, asked Minsky. “I am training a randomly wired neural net to play Tic-Tac-Toe” Sussman replied. “Why is the net wired randomly?”, asked Minsky. “I do not want it to have any preconceptions of how to play”, Sussman said.
Minsky then shut his eyes. “Why do you close your eyes?”, Sussman asked his teacher.
“So that the room will be empty.”
At that moment, Sussman was enlightened.

This story is seriously making me reconsider my stance on the death penalty. The people who run this camp deserve to die.
