A then B

A few questions:
  • If we were to pick up asteroid 3 and sell it, what would we be able to do with the money?
  • What technical capabilities do we already possess?

1. Right now? Not much. You need more infrastructural resources before that method gets useful to you directly. You just don't have the spaceyards to do much, nor the need for more ships, nor the designs. It will pretty much default to the Sell for PR option, which is useful in events and such but not desprite. You can choose to leave it in mars orbit or in earth orbit for later though, and making people happier with you can lead to some useful stuff, events depending.

2. I'm going to remain fuzy on this for prevention of plot holes. Infrastructuraly speaking you do have a small spacedock and sensor station at earth... but nothing besides that yet. You'll need more resources before thats that useful. For various reasons I'm not going to risk plotholling myself with, you can't get much of earth, and they'd like you to stop stealing their labs soon, please.

After all we've done for them? Those ingrates! We gave them shiny alien tech, valuable data about Mars, and didn't nuke them!

If you really cared, I could go on about peak oil, the war that wasn't world war three when china grabbed at Taiwan, The UN's increasing factionalism, the scarcity of natural resources, and all the terrorist earth first groups, but, eh, the games not about that.

....Not that it still might not show up, but your still in what would be the tutorial mode for now.

OK, I have some more questions if answering them is not too bothersome for you:

  • Do we report to anyone and if so who?
  • Is it true that we do not have the capability to make more craft capable of interplanetary travel at the moment?
  • If we established a colony on another world, would we have control over this colony?
  • Do we have a table of travel times between various objects in the solar system?
  • What level of control do we have over the space infrastructure?
  • Finally, I was considering making a computer game based on this game. Would that be alright with you?

Sorry if I am asking too many questions.

Snip

1. Technically you report to the UN. In reality, they can't stop yelling at each other long enough to give you orders anyone else will agree to.
2. You have a small spacedock type thing... but your ship is bigger then that. Until you get another, bigger, spacedock or get fighter sized ftl drives, yep.
3. At the start, yes. Later on... Depends on what you do. You can appoint governors or let a corp manage it after a while, but when it's starting, its all yours, and even after that, you probably are the one with all the guns... unless you've given them some.
4. Currently, for earthsystem, its 1 to 2 days per orbital ring. so from earth to mars is 1 to 2, and from earth to the belt is 2 to 4. Depends on your dicelove/hate.
5. For now, if you don't make it, its not being built. In the long run it depends on what you do and how much independence you give to your minions.
6. I'd like to see that, but I must note this is inspired off this, at least loosely, because the start of that game is lost to the gamefaq forums where it started and got deleted for being an old topic. If you do, please give them credit too.

And ask away! More questions mean more people are interested in this!

Edit, and as a note, Post 2 has an Earth Infrastructure spoiler. Yes, your ship was built in the small spacedock. And if you want to wait another 30 years they can make you another one.

Points at research option D2.

And thusly you go to find a spacerock, and stuff it into your cargo hold, and take it places. And, as you go out and look for one, you almost literally ram into a vastly metal rich asteroid and then manage to get it onboard in record time! you then spend the next 5 days on a general survey of the Asteroid Belt, finding it pretty constructive except for the second day where you didn't find much. Still, now your done, and with a few places to consider dropping a space station once you have them, well, now what?

A. Go back to mars.
B. Go back to earth.
C. Stay and survey longer
D. Write in!

Away team supplies are at 23/30
The Revolution has 7/15 days worth of supplies on board
Ore Rich Spacerock in cargo hold
Cargo hold is full

A.

Let's drop off the rock in Mars orbit once we arrive. Should be useful once we get a manufacturing-capable station there.

A, then see how the away teams are doing.

Actually, one of the away teams said they encountered security systems while examining alien ruins. What kind of security systems did they run into?

Cave ins and blast doors, mainly. Its pretty much an in-verse version of "Man, you guys keep loosing or tieing the roll to get in there." rather then anything else.

And so you go back to Mars, finding that it takes two days this time, to reach its orbit. Their you find that the first team has finally made their way into the complex!... The striped out complex which is mostly empty rooms and machinery buried too deep and is to big to pull out. on the other hand, according to the map, it was correct that their are only five complexes in all... and you've managed to find two of the other ones!... Still working on getting in though...

A. Stay in mars orbit and wait for a few days to see if they get into another base
B. Go Back to Earth
C. Go Somewhere else
D. Write in!
