Voadiana is the sister to the Goddess of Firey Madness, Valimene. The two sisters haven't really gotten along since Valimene took up the position of being a major deity to the Goblins in the northern kingdoms. Valimene isn't mad herself, but she endorses quite a number of mad people. Who happen to like fire.
Voadiana was stuck with a rather small portfolio consisting of Firey Envy, and very few people wanted to worship her. To that end, she wanted to make herself feel better by pulling someone else down, and she knew that her sister would be able to take a joke. She sent one of her followers on a divine mission to try to spit in Valimere's eye.
This fanatic was very knowledgable in politics, and knew that one of the weaker goblin kingdoms had a royal family (if you could call a gobiln royal family ... royal) that was patroned by Valimere. He had the best idea ever! He traveled to the northern kingdom of Grimdoren, crossed the meager defenses of the Goblins' fortress, and snuck into the royal chambers. One by one, he gagged and dragged every member of the family from their beds to the fortress walls where he hang them over the side by their feet. He poured oil over them, and he lit them on fire. Then he started traveling home.
There was one minor flaw in his plan: Grimdoren was a progressive Goblin kingdom that was slowly changing due to their alliance with a small-but-powerful Elf kingdom in the south. Their king was married to an Elf princess, and her two children from another marriage had come with her; Goblins and Elves can't breed, they were to be his heirs. The morning after, the princess's younger brother teleported into Grimdoren's fortress -- his name is Erlind -- and found the chared remains of his sister, brother-in-law, nephew and niece hanging off the wall. Unlike his older brother, who was wise, just, and perfect for staying at home, Erlind had always found his peace as an adventurer, tearing through monsters with whatever weapon was at hand. Erlind's wife was also a mercenary. And Erlind always traveled with a magician or two from his homeland.
It was no surprise to anyone, least of all to the gods who watched it all with a bemused look on their face, that the fantaic who caused the crimes was caught before the sun went down that evening. It wasn't a surprise either when the man spent 48 hours of his life screaming, and a further 17 hours dying without the ability to scream. Before that point though, there was an interesting conversation.
"You're from the kingdom of Fuerunn, right?" Erlind asked.
"Yeah, but they didn't send me! I heard the voice of Voadiana!"
"Yeah, I'm going to believe that a Goddess was dumb enough to send a killer to my sister's door." After that, it became incredibly difficult for the man to speak.
So it was, three days later, and Erlind was standing in the midst of 200 goblins. He began to speak, "When my sister came here, it was because she'd fallen in love with a King who she thought could change things here. She came to a strange land, to a strange people, and she hoped that you would all start to see her as a friend. You did more than that. You fucking loved her. The letters she sent to me proved that all of the times I worried for her coming here were wrong. You loved her, and she loved you.
"That's why I never suspected you when I felt her death in the wind. And I wasn't wrong. It wasn't you. The Kingdom of Fuerunn sent an assassin, an assassin, against ones they are allied with. I don't understand why they did it. I don't give a shit what petty excuse they're going to give me either. But I'm going to ask their King anyway. And when I set the bodies of half of all of his subjects in front of him, as chared at the body of your king, I hope he has a good fucking answer to give me."
There was a lot of cheering.
Erlind's army started marching south, picking up support from most of who they encountered. The clerics were getting worried at about this time. The deities were still granting spells, but no answers to any questions were given. People who had heard the voices of gods since they were young were no longer hearing them. You see, when the deities saw what Voadiana had done, they decided the best punishment they could give to her for such a stupid act would be to force her to watch what she had done. A stupid punishment suits a petty crime. Voadiana was chained to her chair with her observation portal tuned to the happy lives that were about to be extinguished because of her.
That was where she saw a young girl in a single village in the Kingdom of Fuerunn that was a follower of hers. The girl started to pray, "Voadiana, please, help my village some way. I've heard there's a great army coming... If you can do anything, I think we need help..."
Voadiana, already with tears in her eyes, wiggled her hand out of the chains, and summoned her meager host. They were to go out into the many worlds, and find people who could help. She was going to protect the village of Hanne in any way she could...
The simulation will depict the battle.
