UN: Disconnecting file-sharers breaches human rights.

Link.

The UN is on to something, methinks. Certainly won't help France's "civilized" internet plan, though ;)

It's known as the Oppai-Kaiju effect. The islands of Japan generate a sort anti-gravity field, which allows breasts to behave as if in microgravity. It's also what allows Godzilla and friends to become 50 stories tall, and lets ninjas run up the side of a skyscraper.

It's not going to do anything over here either. The people with vested interests in copyright over-protection could care less what the UN thinks, and on this they have legislators' ears.

It's not like Sarkoshit was having much success with his "internet civilization" schemes anyway.

The internet is like the wild west. It is great like this for the gold miners and cowboys, but the corporations and the general public wanted in on it, so they had the wild west legislated into submission, just as is happening to the internet now.

Except the internet is going to be quite a bit harder. if the old entertainment corps can't make a new business model to adapt to the now, they can die clinging to their old model for all I care for them right now.

...The "wild west" was not great for either miners or cowboys. Movies are not real, man.

Depends on your definition. If you wanted to rob and/or kill someone and get away with it, the Wild West was mighty nice to those guys. Tax-free income, too.

Personally, I'm not even as ambivalent as that, I actively want to see the old entertainment corporations die.

You should probably delete that link. After all, that website does have links to torrent sites.

And Google also has links to torrent sites. Even in searches not containing any torrent-related words. You can even sometimes [accidentally or not] get links to all kind of obviously illegal in all jurisdictions staff from that site. So had I just provided an illegal link?

It's a news site regarding Piracy/torrents/other things. You should look at what you are complaining about.

It was 4 (or 2, I can't remember) in the morning when I posted that. And I'm not complaining about it.
