All four (Phoenix Wright/Apollo Justice): Ace Attorney games. They're completely unique love it/hate it games that you should try. Buy the first one and see if you like it.
RAEG for you not mentioning Investigations.

Umm, hard to say, some realy good games. I mean I am a Square Enix fanboy, and fell in love with The world ends with you, what with it's epic soundtrack, but I know some people who have a perticular distaste for that game, so you might love it, might loathe it.

I don't know if I should be sad or happy cause I have played every game listed in this thread so far.
As for my suggestion, try these-

Hotel Dusk - Room 215
Great graphic novel(adventure game) with beautiful graphics. The plot is pretty great and I am pretty sure you will stick to the end. They also made a sequel but it is only released in Japan.

Space Invaders Extreme 1 and 2
SIE1 is a remake of the old space invaders with spiced up formula. SIE2 is just marvelous. It has absolutely great soundtrack and sound effects. Every thing that happens just fits into the rhythm of the music(even the bullet sound effect, no matter how hard you try to make them sound bad). I would recommend second part of the series because it is just the first 1 with more stuff.

GTA: Chinatown wars
Self explanatory.

Lost in Blue 1,2,3
Take any game in the series. They are basically survival games with micro management. The only thing that separates this from feeling like Sims is that you have to really manage your resources else you will die pretty soon.

Lufia Curse of Sinistrals
This is an odd one. It is a reboot of Lufia (The SNES ones, I dunno which part) as an Action RPG as opposed to JPRG. The graphics are quite good for the DS and the puzzles are a joy(they are different than previous lufia but not that different) but every time I start to enjoy the game, the camera fucks everything up. Its like the camera is a big fuck you by the devs.

Playing on my sister's DS, I had fallen into a quick obsession with Lost in Blue. Wish there were more detailed survival games with the same amount of fun, but whatever.

I never really got into handhelds after I got a computer. Even my PSP lasted me less than a year due to mediocre games and Sony locking the firmware down after allowing homebrew on initial versions (and custom firmware with such gems as Nethack and OTTD, along with Final Fantasy 7 were the only reason I played with it that long).

My GBA was the prize possession for a while; Advance Wars defined the system for me, along with countless other titles that I probably still have stashed in various places around my house gathering dust. Castlevania (I believe it was Circle of the Moon; it had RPG levelling and other elements to it) also was pretty good.

I played Rune Factory 1 and Rune Factory 3 is definitely better. I didn't play 2 so I can't comment on that though.

If you like adventure games/visual novels I've read good things about Time Hollow.

Shin Megami Tensei: Strange Journey is a decent, fairly easy, roguelike.

The World Ends with You has been mentioned several times in this thread. It's a fun combination of action and rpg gameplay.

Henry Hatsworth is alternately a platformer and a puzzle game. It's pretty good. Monster Tale is a metroidvania style game by the same company. It's also pretty good.

I havn't played Ghost Trick but apparently it's a lot like Phoenix Wright.

Thanks for the replies!

The first two games I picked up were Mario Kart and Okamiden- I knew I liked Mario Kart from mooching a friends DS in High School, and having played the original Okami the stylus interface seemed an automatic home run. Neither purchase disappointed.

The Golden Sun and Fire Emblem series were highly recommended by my friends, so it is no surprise to see them mentioned here.

Now if you'll excuse me a moment, I need to make some purchases. TO GAMESTOP!

Etrian Odyssey is great, if old-school dungeon crawlers are your sort of thing.
Advance Wars, any part, does not disappoint.
Castlevania: Order of Ecclesia is awesome.
And Pokemon is just Pokemon.
