Well, looking at the guide, I see that they kept the faction/ship imbalance.

It really isn't as bad as the base game, each faction has strengths and weaknesses. Except for Liberty. Liberty sucks. They're like Zerg.

For a limited time, get a free ship upgrade and new players get 100k credits! YAY.

Hooray! I found a copy of this game on ebay for 5.50.  I'll have it early next week.  How many players do you generally have on your server?
Also, is there anything i have to look out for installing it on vista?

Did some server optimizations, it's now drawing on full CPU and 8 gigs of ram, java stuff, etc.

OK, this server is not for me.

Lag is atrocious, and has gotten me killed twice.

Did you check your settings? FTB gets its own set of settings, so you might be having far-view problems.
