Hey Eldrick! I was a bit worried no one was going to reply, thanks for taking some time out of your day to help.
So if I follow correctly, we cant use multiple reagents to create the weapon, so we have to create an alloy of the stated metals and then use the alloy to create the weapon? Or is it shorter then that?
Keyphrase 'create an alloy' but yeah.
Could you walk through what is happening in the last step of reaction A? I understand the first parts, at the smelter using a bar of gold and a bar of steel, and the product is my weapon using the goldsteel material as stats?
Walkthrough coming, but kinda. In A you already have [INROGANIC:GOLDSTEEL] built, and we're just skipping making a bar -or bars- first.
And B) Is the creation of the actual goldsteel bar?
Thanks a lot! Just started modding the other day so i'm trying to pick it up quickly.
B is creating the bar first, and then making the Item from the bar.
Stepping through each example with copious comments! (Using spoiler tags to cut down on the size of the wall of text.)
In the very first unlabeled reaction the assumptions are:
[INORGANIC:GOLDSTEEL] exists, and you just needed the reaction built for you.
[REACTION:GOLDSTEEL_XELANTHOL_REACTION] A Unique name for the reaction. Often best to use something descriptive so you'll know faster if something is missing and how to fix it.
[NAME:create a goldsteel xelanthol] A nice 'friendly' rendition of the reaction. Since jobs (via (j)(m)(q)) are filterable you might wanna make sure your reactions easy for YOU to find. Typing GOLDSTEEL finds this one rapidly. 'Forge' would work if you want it to look more like it has always been there.
[BUILDING:XELANTHOL:NONE] This is assuming a Custom Building... also spamming your Username. It could be SMELTER or even the soap maker's shop if you would prefer. Many just have a reaction add on to an existing workshop or furnace instead of creating buildings.
[REAGENT:A:150:BAR:NO_SUBTYPE:METAL:GOLDSTEEL] This reaction will use up 1 bar of Goldsteel. Bars are in unit sizes of 150. Why? To fix usage of Soap.
[PRODUCT:100:1:WEAPON:ITEM_WEAPON_XELANTHOL:METAL:GOLDSTEEL] 100% of the time this reaction will produce 1 Goldsteel Xelanthol. IF you wanted to simulate it being Difficult you'd change the first number after Product. If making 1 is as easy as 2, then you'd change the second number to 2.
The Second Unlabeled reaction would have attempted to have SOMETHING LIKE the following structure at the end. I'm sure the errorlog would have a field day with it:
[PRODUCT:100:1:WEAPON:ITEM_WEAPON_XELANTHOL:GET_MATERIAL_FROM_REAGENT:A:GET_MATERIAL_FROM_REAGENT:B] The problem is it can't build virtual materials. The result here would be a third material that would then be used for the item. If there was a "Combine_Reagents:A:B" then it would be fine. Heck if there was knowing how things are worked out in the code there'd be a complete list in the Save Data for all the combinations. Charcoal and Granite Arrows? Soap Steel anyone?
Labeled Reaction A:
[REACTION:GOLD_AND_STEEL_XELANTHOL_REACTION] Unique Name
[NAME:create a gold and steel xelanthol] Friendly Rendition
[BUILDING:SMELTER:NONE] This one happens at the Smelter
[REAGENT:A:150:BAR:NO_SUBTYPE:METAL:STEEL] 1 Steel Bar
[REAGENT:B:150:BAR:NO_SUBTYPE:METAL:GOLD] 1 Gold Bar
[PRODUCT:100:1:WEAPON:ITEM_WEAPON_XELANTHOL:METAL:GOLDSTEEL] And we skip making any other steps and jump right to the Goldsteel Xelanthol.
[SKILL:FORGE_WEAPON] This allows a more skilled craftsman to to make much more amazing renditions of the weapon. Also allows the creation to train the weaponsmith so that maybe one day they ARE legendary.
This one trains only one person, the weaponsmith (outside of however you acquired the gold and steel bars)
Labeled Reaction B:
[REACTION:GOLD_AND_STEEL_BAR_REACTION] Unique Name for the Bar creation reaction.
[NAME:create a gold and steel bar] Friendly name
[BUILDING:SMELTER:NONE] Happens at the smelter -appropriate!
[REAGENT:A:150:BAR:NO_SUBTYPE:METAL:STEEL] 1 Steel Bar
[REAGENT:B:150:BAR:NO_SUBTYPE:METAL:GOLD] 1 Gold Bar
[PRODUCT:100:1:BAR:NO_SUBTYPE:METAL:GOLDSTEEL] One Gold Steel Bar...
[PRODUCT_DIMENSION:150] of the Standard Bar dimensions.
[SKILL:SMELT] Trains the Smelter Operator.
[REACTION:GOLDSTEEL_XELANTHOL_REACTION] I described this above...
[NAME:create a goldsteel xelanthol]
[BUILDING:XELANTHOL:NONE]
[REAGENT:A:150:BAR:NO_SUBTYPE:METAL:GOLDSTEEL]
[PRODUCT:100:1:WEAPON:ITEM_WEAPON_XELANTHOL:METAL:GOLDSTEEL]
[SKILL:FORGE_WEAPON] Hello skill I forgot to put in!
This reaction trains at least 2 people (outside of however you acquired the gold and steel bars). Good news! If you wanted to, metal bars sell like hotcakes and some lazy modders like me use them as currency with caravans.
How's that?
