Dwarf fortress posters
« on: June 01, 2011, 06:34:23 am »

Hey everyone.

I've been making a few dwarf fortress mid-century style propaganda posters to sharpen my illustration skills. They've proven quite popular so I'm going to share them around here:

Dig Up!

Catsplosion

Magma

Armok

I spoke with Toady regarding the possibility of selling prints but he denied on the grounds that it would distract from donations to the dev fund. I respect that and thus will not be making prints available for sale. However I will be making the High Quality files available for free to Dwarf Fortress fans who wish to print their own. All i ask is that if you do, please take the time to make a donation to Bay12.

All downloadable files can be found here in both PNG and JPG format at a resolution of 2400x3394

Enjoy!

Nice posters. They kinda remind me of 50's war posters, though.

Yeah, that's where the mid-century style comes in. :)
These are great! :D Love the last one especially. Like to see more... I can just imagine them plastered over the bloody, vomit-spattered walls of an average fortress. :P

I love the Armok one, you did a particularly nice job on the horde of creatures.  Is that the stinging iguana from Bronzemurder I see?

Also, good on you for asking Toady for permission re donations and, better yet, following his wishes.

You're the first person to catch that! Good on you.

These are great.

To clarify, did Toady say not to you selling prints or to him selling prints?

As a graphic designer, I gotta say good work. Sorta inspires me to make some of my own in the future.

Kinda busy this week and won't be around until next Tuesday or Wednesday, but I might try developing something of my own like that. At least, it should make for good material for when I get back into playing DF again (and get the next megaproject started or advertised). I can even get some illustrations done for some backstory or something.

Praise from Armok himself! I hope I got your likeness just right

I told him I'd take care of all the legwork and just send a lump donation at the end of the month and he declined. He said people think they're getting a bigger cut then they actually are. Which is true, If I were to sell them on Society6 with my other prints the profit is between $2-$5/print
