You could probably mark drawbridge as dump area, but not stockpile.
Is that for catapult?

Whenever i read the "doesn't care about anything anymore" line, i instantly imagine a dwarf, sitting alone on a swing set. Just slowly rocking back and forth, somberly staring at the ground, and stopping every once in a while to sigh.
It's mildly depressing.

You cannot put stockpiles on anything that's not floor of natural or constructed type, wall top counts as floor. You would need a dump zone, preferably with a furniture stockpile on or under there. As far as I know, at least as of .18, dwarves won't haul things off stockpiles, even quantum-dumped and claimed, unless it's to stuff into containers, or to haul to another non-filled stockpile by 'take from' setting.

I would imagine there are methods involving waters that 'auto-dump' things using pressure, not quite so sure about how workable it is, or even safety.

For decorating items, it's easier just to assign a dwarf to a small burrow containing the stockpiles and workshop to do the studding or decorating.  You'll need to add the dining hall and/or bedrooms to his burrow too, or he'll be quite unhappy.  The added bonus is that you can be absolutely sure your legendary gem setter won't decide to go fetch that troll fur sock lying outside next to the angry goblin friends of its previous owner.

Just create a stockpile around a workshop in a room, the Dorf will pick the closest object to hand:
ie> J : workshop, # = stockpile.
Code: [Select]
#####
#JJJ#
#JJJ#
#JJJ#
#####

Goto the stockpile settings and set the quality level & type of the items you want to decorate. Add a "take from pile" to fill the High-Quality workshop stockpile from your generic stockpile - or make sure your main stockpile doesn't include the desired items in its settings.

You could otherwise setup a Dump-Zone around the workshop and ( after making sure its the only active dump-zone within range of your items) mark the items to decroate to be dumped. The dorfs will Quantum stockpile the tiles around the workshop. Then just claim the items ( d - b - c ) to let the craftdwarf to use them.

Dude what.

And no. You can't place stockpile in a building (workshops, bridges, tables)
Unless you dump it from above it.
