Two questions

Hi :) I'm just beginning to mod creatures, so I'm mainly editing stuff.

First of all, why isn't this creature showing up on the embark screen? It's mainly cave blob and meant to be able to shoot globs of obsidian like the magma crab.

The slug needs PET.

As for the spider, just select the chitin material and copypaste whatever properties from the iron def into there.

k, so I generated a world and tested them out. The tank spider seems like a good damage sponge, but the cannon slug refuses to shoot? Could someone help with this?

The most immediate thing I can see is the slug doesn't have an attack defined. I don't know how to set up a creature to have a natural ranged attack unfortunately, but that appears to be the problem :).

The magma crab doesn't have an attack in its raws either, only the material breath attack.

Does your errorlog tell you anything?

The only thing I can think of is that it's a problem with using obsidian. Magma crabs use basalt - maybe try that instead to see if the material is the problem?

They should appear in alphabetical tag order so you may have missed them in arena.
But if that's not the case a [OBJECT:CREATURE] should be at the top of the document so DF knows it's a creature

Thanks for the tank thing, but what does [IMPLIES_ANIMAL_KILL] do?

EDIT: After some testing, iron skin doesn't do much for the tank spider. How would I make it have hard skin? This is what the tank spider is right now:

I want to give it more chances to bite, which won't do much but will cause pain, and more protection. Although wounds don't affect it, I want to see copper edged attacks glancing away at least sometimes. punches glancing off are enough for an embark creature actually. But still I want to see more bites :3

Any way to make the bite WEAKER? It shatters skulls a bit too easily.

How would I make this thing die more easily? Grand master sword/fighter dwarf with steel could not kill it for a long time.

To make it clear, I want it hard to kill, but lucky shots and continuous whacking will have some effect.

To make it clear, I want it hard to kill, but lucky shots and continuous whacking will have some effect.
1. Implies animal kill is so that the game knows that if you have it, it likely came from the dead. Civ's that don't like killing animals (ie Elves) won't bring anything with the tissue.

2. Give the bite a Velocity modifier lower than 100. The lower it is the less likely of death.

3.Give the Chitin Tank Tissue a high vascular level (like 6-10) so when someone does cut it it bleeds... a lot. A higher healing rate (100-300) will give those lucky nicks a little extra oomph.
