I can tell you're only a dabbling liar, though.

It's true.  I rarely need to lie, I'm out of practice.  The truth usually does well enough to astound and confuse that I don't need to lie.

You do not understand the ways of Toady One. He is not a business, he's just a guy trying to make a fun game. He's invited people to come along and experience the journey with him (and help him test it out as he goes along). At the end of the day, I don't think his main goal is to sell Dwarf Fortress, its just to create the best game possible.

Last post: October 12.
Necro: 4 months and change.
Last Kobold spotting: Today.

Kobolds are BACK!  Let the conference resume!

To begin, my first adventurer in .34.1 walked outside and ran into kobolds.  Being an elite wrestler, she grabbed the sword off one and yanked it away, then stabbed him with it, then strangled the other until he passed out and bit him in the head.  Kobolds are lovely, but if it's a choice...

I walk to the left, realize that's the wrong direction, and walk back to the right.  More Kobolds!  I'm standing over the previous corpses holding a bloody silver sword, and another kobold walks up and whips me in the back, severing the spine in one blow and leaving me crippled on the ground, legs turned to utter mush, where I then suffocate because my lungs are paralyzed.

My hat is off to you, Madam Kobold and your Glorious Silver Whip of Vengeance.  Please don't whip my naked head.

I've had four thieves within five minutes, and there was much rejoicing. Now I just need to build a cave-in trap so I can catch a few for my hammerer's harem. He's a devious little bastard, he is.

He's right here:

My first thief, Lulustraykin. Much rejoicing was had when he arrived, and I even let him get away.
Since this first touching sight, I have been blessed with two more such sightings.
My life is complete.

I squeed when I saw they were back!

I also had one come during the Epic Necromancer Invasion.  My dorfs let him go.

From what I read, kobolds became some scary little buggers...
Do they walk in bling? I once had bolds with gold boots.

My first super saiyan character killed 16 kobolds before dying to bogeymen.

Success? I'd say so.

I had never encountered kobolds before, I like the description in the CIV trade screen.

I am pleased to behold so many kobolds. Now if only runesmith were updated so I could transfer them to my civ to hang out in the dining hall whenever spotted!

Alright, Girlinhat, need some advice here (or anyone else who knows modding well enough to answer this).

First off, thanks to everyone for the advice on getting them to survive worldgen in 31.25.  Worked wonders.  Although I'm still not in the cutebold camp (and leaning towards scaly, though not ugly and hideous), I still like the idea of kobolds as dwarven pets/companions.

I'm thinking of modding them to be pets, and trainable for war or hunting.  How would I go about doing this, and what do you think would be a good pet value?  Also, is there any way to do it and NOT have them show up as slaughter-allowed livestock?  I'm not interested in kobold leather cloaks (though dwarves DO have cat and dog leather, so maybe it's not that out of the question).
