The circus and its openings. SPOILERS
« on: May 30, 2011, 04:42:42 pm »

There is only one opening to hell, correct? Because I found one and, luckily, I blocked it up with some diorite close by.

Also, are there any more pillars of adamantine? Or am I stuck with no more?

It's been a while.
My unit list has three pages of demons, though. It's annoying when I'm trying to find someone.

There can be more than one cotton candy stick. My current fort has 3. In addition, there might be a hell-fort that provides access to the depths. However, only one of the possible legitimate entrances will spawn the demon horde, and that occurs when the bottom of it is revealed (so if you dig into the "wrong" one on some maps, you might be able to explore much of hell without spawning the mob). And the demons can't escape except through the holes you've opened.

There's one adamantine tube per 2x2 square on the region map, so a 2x2-3x3 has at most 4, a 4x4 has at most 9, and so on.

There's usually more than one tube per map, and it seems you didn't get too many friends either. Last time I got the hell fort there were ten pages of demons. Not counting the undead that come with them.

Also, you might want to change the thread title, some people dislike that.

Changed it, if new players look at it it's their fault. I warned them.

Your traditions are silly. All your hiding does is make people curious about it, and then they'll look it up.

Perhaps we could discuss this in the purging (read: magma) chamber...

A demon was wandering about and my militia commander killed him. He must've escaped through a different breach but I holed that up.
But the thing is he lost the ability to grasp, because his hands are broken. Only one is still fractured, will that heal and let him pick stuff up or will I have to put him down?

If his hands are broken, toss him in the hospital.  If he has any nerve damage or has lost limbs, THEN it's a problem.  Otherwise, bedrest and water.  The water helps them heal, because they know the faster they heal, the faster they can drink booze again.

If it is nerve damage, then your only solution is magma, to prevent an endless tide of message spam.

Wait, cancel that. Replace the danger room spears with steel ones, and then send him in for some "special training".

Alternatively, retire him from active duty and have him live the rest of his life as an engraver.

Wait you can engrave without hands?
