After surviving two goblin sieges in previous years the third one decided to attack the executable itself. Shortly after a goblin siege arrives my game crashes. It is about one minute after my current save point. In that minute Elves arrive, and then the vile force of darkness. I've tried some things on my own, (rushing out to kill the elves, activating steam defense, not activating any defense, a variety of orders for dwarves to stay and or go, removing all jobs everywhere, drafting everyone into the military and running out to kill meet the force. But nothing seems to prevent the crash.

So you still have this save?  What sort of crash is it?  If it's an "inflate error -3", that means the unit files have become corrupted somehow (and it's loading them on the invasion probably).  It's hard to trace those errors, so there's not much I can do with the save directly.  If it's a garden variety crash to desktop or something like that, I might be able to solve the bug from the save, and perhaps recover the save as well.

It was a garden variety error. However, the latest build seems to have fixed it. Or at least no crash so far and I'm about 20 minutes from where it was crashing before.
