Zero Tolerence Fort
« on: May 28, 2011, 08:00:32 pm »

This is the zero tolerance fort challenge, a horrific fort where nobles go unmolested and the law is harsh and swift.

Simply put, the fort must be built under a zero tolerance policy, no excuses for any misshape or mistake. Mandate failed? Employ !!JUSTICE!! Crappy artifact? Magma pit for artifact and the creator? The policing force is to be kept up and running full time and be armed for deadliness. Those who get themselves injured or stuck get left there to die and earn no rest for their stupidity.

Goal is to see how long it takes before tantrum spiral ends the fort.

MOAR RULES

Noble death outside of natural causes (I mean it guys), meaning anything other than old age results in failure.
Those who are subject to too many interruption messages as mentioned below are to be executed.
Policing force of your fort must be armed with sharp objects.

Dwarves don't mind living under an iron fist so long as there are some nice things put in their rooms and the food is pretty decent.

Which version are we using? ghosts in such a place would suck - and giving them memorials seems counter to the theme.

No! No! I will not massacre my children. Instead, I'll make them corpulent on crappy mass-produced quarry bush biscuits and questionably grown mushroom alcohol, and then send them into the military when they turn 12...

Rule: Anyone generating unresolvable cancellation spam will be fed to the spike trap. This includes "Cancels store item: item misplaced," "Cancels clean self: area inaccessible," and "interrupted by <insert harmless animal here>" repeated more than twice in one day.

Equip your sheriff with a battle axe.

In a recent fortress, after 30 or so years of ignored mandates with no justice system in place, I absentminded appointed a legendary miner as captain of the guard.  He proceeded to bash in the skull of every single dwarf in the fortress, his wife included.  After the bloodbath and resulting tantrums subsided, all that was left was some starving babies, an insane mayor, himself, and the duke, who was sitting contently in his personal dining room surrounded by four artificial waterfalls.

On a related note, prison sentences are cumulative; I had a few dwarves reach 300+ day terms as long as they evaded the law.

Seems my metalcrafters will be getting a substantial punishment then, as my mayor is fond of nickel silver and I ignore him.  He mandated high boots and animal traps, however.  Those I could fit into my schedule, especially since I was arming my soldiers already.  But that nickel silver table in his dining room, when he's merely the mayor and will be replaced.  I lol'd at that.

Thus verifying that the only difference between a dwarf and a human is alcohol tolerance.

Re-specify the noble situation.  You make it sound like death from old age is failure.

I'll do this when the next version comes out, in an evil region. See how many zombies I get before the fort falls.

I thought it was about a foot, but there you go.
