need plump helmets

do merchants bring plumps or any below surface plants? on my current world there is no cavern and i didnt bring any on embark. now i really need them!

If there are no caverns, the merchants can't bring any because they don't have any.

oh shit what am i going to do now...

If i dig out some mountain in a such way that i expose soil area, then aboveground plants will grow dont they?

You can wall/ceiling an outside area for outside farming.

If that's too hard, you can remove the ceiling of an inside room exposing it to light and making it an 'outside' farming area. Build another ceiling after you do to keep it protected, if you want to be realistic make it a glass ceiling.

Actually all outside plants grow year round. (at least in vanilla) Inside plants don't.
