Hi anyone have a link to one of the threads about making the game use less CPU?

I haven't been able to find it in the search.

Here.

The only way to reduce CPU usage is to reduce the amount of things that need to be calculated. Embarking on a 2x2 area instead of a 3x3 and reducing your dwarves to 100 or 50 are your best bet. You can also turn temperature and weather off, but it's best to do this after world generation.

Don't forget to download DFhack and run dfcleanmap to remove unwanted blood and powders from the ground, also make a dwarven 'bath' to get the blood and powder off of your dwarves. It's just a channel filled with 2/7 water that your dwarves have to walk through. You can use dfliquids to fill a 2x6 channel with two 7/7 tiles of water, this will make it 2/7 full.

Make sure you're placing your staircases properly as well, I'm working on an improved grand central staircase at the moment and will post it when I'm done (granted it works).
