Front of a fort?
« on: May 28, 2011, 03:24:21 am »

Im always having trouble deciding what to do; a fort in the middle of plains, or build one into the mountains. However the first is easier because you actually have freedom regarding the fortress, the second one seems to be hard; for me at least. Can you guys show me the front of your forts? The entrance?

this is my last fort. it wasnt quite finished in any way before we got slaughtered, unfortunately. but here's the pichttp://i1108.photobucket.com/albums/h409/lkvam/BloodfortheBloodGod1.png the walls were 2 high and 2 thick. on the wall was 1 walkable floor and fortification on outer side
This fort was going to have 2 gates. barracks were the closest rooms to the gate. other gate wasn't built yet

I've duplicated this system before and it works like a charm.

I dont have that much experience with magma so I'd prefer not to use it. :P

The entrance to Soargold is a long obsidion corridor winding across a plain before a volcano. Above, archers man the ramparts and each twist is guarded by a tower.
I can't show you a picture as I fingure out for the life of me how to post a picture

I use warriors just for the pleasure of seeing bodyparts flying and blood, also the increased chance of losing  and the thrills

Me too, until I have build an overly-complicated trap involving both water, magma, steel blades, and kittens.

This is my one of my former entrances. The idea was to make a bridge like in lotr which on Gandalf and balrog fought. floor area on the inner side is for archers. On the top are my barracks and weapon and armor storages
cage traps were only  temporary but my fort still died.
