Looks pretty explicitly a clone judging by the video's description.

Another one? Well add it to the list. This one is interesting because it honestly goes out of it's way to say it is a DF clone. Hell, it dosn't even include the name of the game, just Dwarf Fortress. I have nothing against 'clones' as long as they try to bring a unique flavour to the table. So they have there own ideas and features and vision, rather then just being a rip off, but as it stands without even adding a name, this does not seem likely.

With any luck it will die in vain, when the dev realises what they are trying is out of their depth.

It is 2d isometric!
And not the first 2d isometric DF clone. Let me see if I can find any of the others, there was one in particular that drew a lot of attention.

It's not 3d, it's isometric as Max said, and it's WORSE than top-down because such view obscures some tiles, which may be fatal in such game.

Also top-down view is better for the strategy, it's easier to plan and judge distances.

Honestly, i'd love to code a game like DF, just for fun. But i'm honestly turned off from the idea given the reaction it always receives.

Bring forth something more interesting than 'Slaves to Armok: God of blood; chapter II: Dwarf Fortress; Histories of X and Y; The demake', and I'm sure the community will be very accepting. I would love more games that use similar concepts to DF, but not a huge fan of blatant rip offs.

As long as there's no price tag on it.

Also, as long as there are some significant differences between it and Dwarf Fortress.

And as long as the creator says SOMEWHERE where they got the idea/entire game from.

Then i'm only slightly displeased.

well it looks like a tile sheet for Stonesense
oh well looks like a DF + Kings quest combination which to be honest is a add on to he crazy difficulty of the original game.

I would love for an isometric Df like game. infact, i might be willing to contribute sprites for such a project.

and the isometric obviouse problems can be solved with dynamic transperancy

They are all missing the point and becoming 2d isometric Minecraft-Clones instead. Wait and see.

I'm not fan of the isometric graphic for this genre, as sometime when not tested enough you can have some isometric parts are obscuring things (the worse i remember was in Falcon's Eye, so easy to miss a tunnel entrance because the angle of view was so bad) , but the angle choosen does not look too bad there.

But what i really like is the mouse clickable menu (though it's even better in Goblin Camp), that's really something i would love to see in Dwarf Fortress.
