Has anyone noticed different amount of time to dig different tasks in the current version (31.25)?
For example, digging out a room versus stairs up versus up-down stairs versus ramps?

Has anyone noticed experience and mining skill gain being different for the different tasks?

My latest test fort, it seems like there is, but I can't be sure.

digging out a ramp or a ditch is 2 actions

digging out a stairs, then destroying the stairs with channel is 3 actions

Thanks, but not what I meant.

Not the number of steps to turn the rock into bare space, the amount of time to dig rock in stairs versus the amount of time to dig rock into a ramp versus the amount of time to dig a rock into empty space.

I seems that digging a staircase should grant more skill than digging a ramp, and take longer, but I can't tell for sure.
