I'm sorry to rain on your parade, but transformation into an entity with wildly different mass strains my suspension of disbelief. Where the excess mass come from\goes to?  ???
PuppyMcChained: 'Oh noes! A Bronze Colossus!'
*MoonMcMoon is now MoonMcFullmoon*
PuppyMcChained: 'Yum! A Werelungfish!'
*nomnomnomnomnomnomn*

I think you are right about mass things. While I don't care about the excess mass question, I do not want people to change to harmless critters. A good solution qould probably making the werecritter larger as large as the victim. Larger is of course ok too, werecritters should be dangerous...

Is anyone else looking at this and wondering if they can't manage to were-ify their entire fort?

A siege of goblins has come!

Okay, close the gates until the full moon, and then unleash 200 were-badgers on the unsuspecting goblins!

It would be AWESOME.

Christ, are you dwarves or are you elves? If you think Hell has too many demons, then youkill them till the population reaches an acceptable number.
Dwarf Fortress: So horrifying the players would rather talk about nice things, like Warhammer 40k.

Imagine if at the full moon, the entire fort turned into were-elves. I can just imagine the player screaming in horror, then ordering the suicide lever built. And pulled, while chanting psalms to Armok for salvation.

I figured the guy was a goner too when a noseless bat from hell flew right over the fortifications and attacked.

Put into this light, Dr. Robotnik and Armok could easily have been roommates.

wereflesh balls!
You know how when you turn into a werewolf your clothes break from increased size?  When you turn into a fleshball your SKIN is ripped off.
Mayor: Please help us adventurer!  There is an evil beast lurking around the village!  We found a human skin in old man jenkins' house for the last 3 months.  People have been hearing mysterious squelching sounds at night! Save us, before we are all devoured by this mouthless menace!

Then a necromancer comes and animates the cast-off skins...
