Sartain and I just played our game from Season 1: his Red Mesa Ravagers against my Ebon Fist, which ended in an unexpected victory for the Ebon Fist, 2-1.
Ebon Fist decided to receive first, and their skilled dark elf players (in this case, especially the player with guard) were enough to send the mostly unskilled lizards to the ground. A loose cage climbed up the right side of the field. However, strength 4 lizards (and a strength 5 krox) are not players to be easily discouraged, and the cage was battered. After several turns of no progress and the ball carrier being surrounded by the krox and a lizard, a desperate play was born - a blitz knocked off the lizard, so with only a -1 to throw, a pass was made to a dark elf lineman (who also had a lizard on him, so -1 to catch.) The pass was good, and the lineman dodged away, scoring a TD. 1-0
The second play started with a rock to the side of the witch elf's head, KO.
Not to be outdone, the Ravagers set up for a fast, brutal play. Using their superior strength, they bashed a hole in the dark elf line, allowing a skink to run through for the TD just before the half. 1-1.
The second half started almost immediately into an all-out brawl. The Ravagers tried to repeat their play from the previous half, but this time they found the elves somewhat less squishy. The lizard wall got stuck slightly into the Fist side of the field. Then, with some blitzes, the ball was knocked loose, bouncing off of two lizards before coming to rest near some elves, and it looked like this might be the turning point of the match. An elf runs in to snatch the ball and … fumbles. Twice. The lizards, seeing their chance, go to knock down a dark elf player and… skull/both down. Play turns over to the dark elves again, so their player goes to pick up the ball and… fumbles. Lizards manage to pull off their block this time, and move players into position to block the ball. The dark elf lineman (also known as Mr. butterfingers to his friends) finally manages to pick up the ball, and is running to the goal when… lightning! Sartain sends a bolt down from the heavens, zapping the poor ball carrier, and a skink runs in and picks up the ball.
Time’s running out, and it looks like the lizards will not be able to score before time is up. However, it doesn’t look like the dark elves will be able to score either – a tie! Sartain directs his skink to run as far away from any dark elf players and his own goal line as he can get… but trips on the first GFI.
It’s the last turn of the game and the dark elves then turn to the mercy of Nuffle. The witch elf, the only player close enough to the ball, runs down, picks it up, makes a medium pass over the head of a lizard to a lineman. The lineman catches it, runs it up (with one GFI) to another lineman. The ball is handed off, and the lineman runs it in for the TD, 2-1.
All that Sartain needed to do to keep the tie was have the skink standing, and I wouldn’t have been able to pull it off – the witch elf could have blitzed the skink, but then there weren’t any other elves in range to pick up the ball.
Still, an excellent game and I commend Sartain for it. It was very close the entire time.

So, as I said, we’re starting off a new season of Bloodbowl, because the other one was saddled with too many non-players.
If you’re interested in playing, please post below! Currently, I think we’ll try to have each player pick a unique race. If anyone wants to dispute that, I’m open to suggestions.
IMPORTANT: if you want to play in the league, ask yourself: “can I devote one hour of my time to this once every ten days or so?” If the answer is NO, then DON’T SIGN UP.
Ask yourself: “Am I planning on disappearing entirely from the Bay12 community soon, and will refuse to answer all PMs and Steam messages?” If the answer is YES, then DON’T SIGN UP.
Ask yourself: “Would I like to have a lot of fun with a bunch of other Bloodbowl players, and watch a bunch of teams evolve as they play through a season, ending with a playoffs and finally with one team declared champion?” If the answer is YES, then SIGN UP!
