Honor does not consist of a bunch of self aggrandizing theatrics that you badly plagiarized from a bunch of anachronistic stories.  Honor consists of committing yourself to people and causes and sacrificing for the good of those people and causes.

Plus, if you challenge someone to a duel, THEY get to choose the terms. That's how it works. To presuppose to impose terms on them... it's pretty rude and not in the slightest bit honorable.

Granted, the guy in question picked on me first. But yeah...I'm kind of an idiot.

I love the combination of Asperger's+ having been two years ahead in middle school (when I was supposed to learn much of this). This still doesn't explain why acting like a man-slut is so successful.

Granted, I didn't tell him what the terms were, I just had Pokemon in mind

Why I keep answering to the obvious flame bait post?

What so bad and wrong about casual dating/hitting on someone? As long as all involved understand what's going on, it's pretty fun, even if nothing special comes out of it.

Plus, dueling by Pokemon TCG looses the point of dueling. A duel means something because you risk something important, namely, dying, or at least actual bodily harm. Risking a papercut out of a card is not good enough. Dueling for something important while not risking physical harm would mean that whatever you're dueling for is not important enough to actually risk your body. If you were to accept the validity of duels, it would be offensive to all parts, including the prize, to be involved in such thing.

Oh, and of course, it's the challenged, not the challenger who chooses the weapons of the duel. So, it would only be pokemon cards if they want it so. He's certainly to choose something that suits his strengths and your weaknesses.

And I keep answering this thread. Why????

I just had to edit to add this. I now wishes that there were a rep system in this forum, just so I could rep this post up.

Hehehe. I doubt this OP is actually serious, or at least hope not.

Anyway, it'd probably go the same way as any plans to win a woman's heart with Pokemon cards - that is to say, badly.

Mkay, listen... casual dating is normal. Just because you can't ask a woman out doesn't change that. ;)

That is the generally accepted manner of starting romantic relationships in modern society. That's about as close to "supposed" as you'll ever get.

But...but...

I think I find the idea of some sort of well-known ritualized courting that doesn't rely on being sketchy attractive because it would make things much easier for me...

I think the issue is that the girl belongs to another dude, and thus hitting on her would be problematic. I hope. Otherwise watch some romcoms and pick up some smooth moves big guy ;D

(I use the term 'belongs' here in a mutual innocent way, to denote that a relationship where each partner is somewhat committed to the other. I do not use this with the context of one person being the property of another due to a relationship and social order.)

Why it's creepy? It's consensual and fun for all parts involved, and it doesn't cause harm to any one. Why would it be bad? Sure, a meaningful romantic relationship can certainly be better, but while this meaningful romantic relationship is not found, just having fun, as long as no one is deceived into it, has no reason to be a problem.

But...but...

Sure, a formalized way of courting, where all rules are written down, and all actions and reactions codified would make it easier for the socially inept of us (a category, which I dare to say, to a greater or lesser degree, most of this forum fits, or have fitted at some point in their lives, hopefully to a lesser degree). But it would also be stagnated, silly and kinda fake.

I was disappointed when this thread wasn't about taking cheap shots in a fight, a la Hollywood's "underdog" throwing low blows against the more powerful Big Bad.  That's something I'd be willing to get involved in.

Duels, though?  Now-a-days, if you're dueling someone, it's because it's fun, not because you think it'd give you some perceived advantage over another person.  I'm glad we don't have that silly honor system any more - It was stupid and useless in the first place.  These days, we play games and gossip about celebrities rather than shoot each other and talk about shooting each other (Or the lack thereof).

Wow dhokarena you're duel thing makes you sound just like a guy I know named Mark Barrera, this is shot in the dark but you wouldn't happen to be him, would you?

Also, is it just me or does this forum attract people with asperger syndrome like a gosh darned magnetron? This is starting to become uncanny.
