Given how easily we should be getting stone, I'd say a palisade isn't worth doing; it might as well be a stone wall. Also, we should totally be having these conversations in character.

Tholtig sniffed Sandow's stew, suddenly a bit sorry she had eaten already.

"That smells delicious, Sandow, good work," she said, thinking about how much better cavern stalk would taste in a stew than on its own. It seemed her fears of eating rough were completely unfounded.

Tholtig uses a rock to make a mason's shop inside the cave, then begins making stone blocks. She was done with fish cleaning for a while, and figured the actual mason would be busy mining.

The lighter green is cavern growth, the darker green/brown is mud. The black patches without a border represent pitfalls, and the rectangle near the entrance is the wagon.

"Golem and I shall roll some boulders over these pitfalls, they are a hazard. Though if we're feeling fiesty we can divert the river a bit and drown them out heh heh, maybe soon."

"Tholtig your right, I'll cook up these worthless cavern stalks next"

"For our defences, I'd like a bridge over a spiked pit. held up by a single support linked to a lever. But in the short term, we should set up our camp out of sight of the opening of the cave, so as to keep a lower profile. If we have a mighty exterior wall, it will only advertise that great dwarven crafts lie within."

roll boulders over pitfalls to block them. make more stew from cavern stalks and fish and water. Practice rapier while golem digs once pick is available

Whoops.

Myit spends his day using the tools around him to butcher the previously killed deer. If finishing early, he'll go out and look for plants that could be turned into a type of poison that would aid him in hunting.

Unaware of the sun passing overhead as he continues to dig, Zazit carves three more rooms. He seems to be losing momentum, as the stone left in his wake contains more scrap than previously. He begins smoothing rooms, completing two and part of a third before he begins feeling weary from the day's work.

Gethor copies the markings around the caves down as best he can, then goes back to bed making.
After completing a second bed, he chops the third log into workable pieces.

Tholtig drags a flat stone out of the mining tunnel to serve as a table, and using the useful tiny hammer and other tools in a crafter's belt begins carving blocks.
Inexperienced, her first stone shatters when struck, as does the second, but the next two become fine blocks.

Nevyn works constantly through the evening to harvest lumber, felling three trees and dragging them back to camp before nightfall.
The only event to slow his work is Azen's accident, which only takes a minute of his time.

Sandow directs his golem to roll boulders into the pitfalls, so as to make the deeper caverns safer.
Eight chunks of stone are dropped into the holes, filling three of them. Afterwards, Sandow attempts to make the cavern stalks more palatable by boiling them with fish meat and the remaining jerky, creating another stew.

Myit, making use of the abandoned fish-cleaning station, begins butchering his deer.
Though the skinning process goes less than well, a good amount of meat is butchered and the bones are usable.

Azen returns to treecutting with Nevyn, but his first tree topples unpredictably and pins his leg!
Azen and Nevyn lift the tree off, and he escapes with but a few scrapes, and goes on to fell a second tree before dark.

The dwarves bed down for the night, and awake refreshed but hungry.

"Damn I was actually going to be eating all those Stalks, why do ya think I brought them, Rations..."
Neyvn grumbled as he ate the stew that Sandow made the night before. Regardless the Fish and Jerky did give the a better taste to the stalks. Rising from his meal while downing any drink on hand, apparently though the lowest quality in stock still (Rations he says when asked). He returns down to the area to continue cutting down more trees, he doesn't feel satisfied about the amount until there is at least 20 in stock...
"Just call if you need me, She'll watch the work don'tcha worry bout that..." He called pointing towards his Riding dog with his axe. The dog looks up at him, barks the nuzzles his head into its paws, watching the area around her, the Cavern Rat never moved from its position of the nest of fur it had curled up in on the dog's rump...

Eat Stalk/Fish Stew, Drink Low Quality Booze, Return to work Woodcutting.

Azen sits with his dog.
Then, Azen creates a little practice dummy out of some Straw.
He then practices his axemanship.

Tholtig eats whatever stew is on hand, then washes it down with sugar ale.

She then disassembles her mason's workshop, and creates an adjacent mason's and craftsdwarf's workshop in roughly the same place, using the stone blocks. She continues to produce more blocks if she has time.

"I didn't see that deer personally," grumbled Gethor, "but that must be a very, very lean doe. How come it does not even come with just enough meat to feed everyone for a day?"

He got some stew, and washed that down with cavern water. "Time for some serious farming, mates. Someone please help me with the beds, unless you wanted to rotate, one day on two days off."

Gethor picks up the farming tools and plant half of the seeds in the plot of mud which is not adjacent to the river. He then makes a bucket good enough for irrigation, if there is still enough time.
