Done!
Spoiler: Character (click to show/hide)

As for embark, I suppose my vote goes for Mountain Spring Cave. Heated springwater sounds awesome, and the caverns should provide plenty of Fun. I like the giant animals on Forested Mountain, but don't like that there's no river, so maybe we should just rely on elves to bring us tamed versions.

I'd also be down for Ocean Icefield, but of course that would be a very... challenging embark site. As in, we'd all die.

Sorry for the double post, but wouldn't I need special tools for butchery? Also, can I buy equipment to create my own arrows?

You can butcher an animal without tools, though having a workplace and/or utility knife will help. Rangers can also butcher with less of a penalty than other non-butchers.
So, you could gut and clean a pig with bare hands if you're not worried about cleanliness or efficiency.

Arrows can be made from wood or bones and any sharp tool, though woodcrafters would produce better arrows. A metalcrafter or weaponsmith for quality metal arrowheads is nice too.

So, in summary, a utility knife is really nice to have, but you could make do with a sharp rock.

So, I can't help but notice we've got around 3 weeks worth of booze, 4 weeks worth of food, and more dogs than dwarves.

This should be interesting.

"Mountain Spring Cave? Yes, a good spot, six other migrants are going there as well.
Now, let's see, with your supplies combined with the other's this is what you'll be starting out with..."

Spoiler: Embark Equipment List (click to show/hide)
"So, you've got a little less than a month's worth of food and drink. That's fine, the surrounding area should have at least some easy food."

"Now, I've got this map of the area right here..."

And so you head off on your journey, with your six companions, a squad of guards, and the wagon holding the tools to your survival.

This is a chance to roleplay and find out more about your fellow dwarves before reaching the embark site. Go to it!
