does anyone know if an adamantine wall constructed from blocks would be worth more than an obsidian wall engraved with a legendary engraver?

Yes, someone does know that.

In fact, an adamantine wall would be much more valuable than an engraved obsidian wall. One tile of adamantine wall would be worth 1500U, while an engraving on an obsidian wall done by a legendary+5 engraver is worth 150U or 360U, average 206.07U.

You can get a dining hall that will make your dwarves cream their trousers just by smoothing and engraving the whole mess and having high-quality furniture. Besides, a dining hall is a frivolity, you ELF. REAL dwarves use their adamantine only for WEAPONS!

And sometimes to make piccolos, if they get caught in a strange mood.

Yeah, once a dining hall is worth 10,000U, adding more value to it won't actually do anything. It's pretty much pointless to make adamantine rooms.

Weapons are dwarfier.

My apologies.. I didn't notice you were of the Warrior caste.
How have the world come to this, that a Dwarf from the Noble caste cannot properly converse with one from the Warrior caste.

Hmph.  You nobles today have it so easy.  Adamantine walls in your dining rooms.  My nobles lived in magnetite-floored rooms with constructed iron walls, and they liked it just fine.

Yes, the doors did open from both sides.  Why do you ask?

Because I always make sure a lever in my room opens the door, to ensure noone gets inside when i sleep.
